Any technique that may offer fast results will no work in the long run, or even in the short run if Google cracks it down.

Not really. It's not as easy as it was before. Google is now more aware of the spams. We're talking about aggressive SEO to boost you up on top with all these "Gurus".

You should try to get backlinks from forums or blogs(guest posts etc..) related to your site,more the backlinks the better your website will rank.
