With the evolution of the payment landscape and constant change these days the main question is what kind of solutions can we use in every single store.  According to Walmart executive Mike Cook, it will not be a payment method support by NFC, nor will it be Google Wallet.  This announcement narrows down the field and leaves Bitcoin as one of the possible options.

All merchants will accept payment methods that are very popular, because it increase their chances for profits. Bitcoin payments is much cheaper than any other payment method

out there, but they will have to work through payment processors, and they will hike up the price. When Bitcoin goes mainstream, bigger companies will follow the money... if they

ignore that, their business will not stay competitive. If one company accepts it, they already have a advantage over their competitors.  Wink
