...

Just TWO people I personally know have expressed any interest in BTC (only one who actually has more than $5.00 worth).

USA.

My best guess why "my crowd" is not interested is that it is still too hard to use.  Most people I know are over 40 yrs old.  But even our daughter and her husband (29) show zero interest.

FWIW...

So no interest is a new type of problem. Do they have no I interest because they don't understand it or because they just for care about it ?

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

So, what do people around you (relatives, co-workers, co-ed, friends...) think about Bitcoin ? Please, indicate your country, so this way I'll be able to make a synthesis about what people think about Bitcoin.

For me : I come from France. My relatives think that it's criminals' tool and that since they can't touch money they don't trust it (note that those same persons are pro-banks, where you can't touch money). My friends think that it is useless and that it has no future. Both of them agree that scare them the most is the Bictoin's price volatibility.

So not so positive Undecided. I hope that you aren't in the same situation.
I am from India and majority of people around me have no idea what bitcoin is and to make them understand is an uphill task.Few of those who know or have heard about bitcoin consider it has a perishable currency manipulated by few peoples. The mentality in my place is that if something is backed or supported by Government,it is safe and secure.

But most of them are just stupied.I mean they bearly have a clue how money really works.Isn't that disappointing?
This is like "you get teached what you have to know and that's it".Crazy!
Young people are easily influenced, later in life some of them will become more critical.  Smiley

They think it's all BS and I sort of understand really, I'm not a fanatic and I can see their arguments. I don't really talk much about it since it's not a huge part of my life, it's just an investment for me in part. On the other hand I really like the idea and feel it is something special, but I'm not convinced Bitcoin is the final form, just the first steps into something greater.

my peeps talk about it like its a fad or trend  so they will talk about it as tho they were the first to hear about it ,but when they find out ive been in it for years , they change the subject . its just a conversation starter for most. and they butcher what bitcoin is when they try to explain it.

There are only a couple of people in my network who know about Bitcoin, and they learned about it from news reports about Silk Road and all of this other stuff. They think it's a plaything of criminals exclusively. And while I am a Bitcoin supporter, I have a hard time trying to explain bitcoin's advantages, because I'm not so certain about them myself.

After speaking with one to many friends about it over the years and watching them stare into space without a clue I decided to stop. I'm in Europe. Recently though I have started having people trying to speak to me about it, I'll be honest I don't bother. 'The end of money as we know it' is being watched and waking many up. Those who understand the banks control usually end up down the bitcoin path in the end just a matter of time.

My roommtes and co worker think bitcoin as a passive income for me it is real money that i can spend

I ever heard some of my friends dont want to touch the bitcoin because its a terrorist currency, devil money

But for me anything can become good and bad it is just depend on how you earn it and how you spend it

it's mixed. i have introduced bitcoin to a few friends and family members, i guess 10-15 people in total, but only 3 of them are using it from time to time. the others will give bitcoin a chance, but only if there is no volatility anymore.

Very few people I know understand much about Bitcoin, and they have no intention on learning more about it. I do have one friend however who is looking it up, he hadn't heard of Bitcoin before that. So I guess that's a small victory.

I'm irritated by how some of the people I know think of Bitcoin, they think it is overall useless and will likely not have much use in the real world or in the future.

They also think that signature campaigns are moronic because you earn less than minimum wage, but I always tell them that you're still earning money in the off time between your actual job, and you get to do something you enjoy. Of course this means nothing to them...

I find it difficult to explain it to people in a simple way. So I think they are mostly confused about it.
Usually I just give up trying to explain all the technical aspects and say it's magic internet money Cheesy

Same here Dude, most people think here in our place is that Bitcoin is a scam, they don't really understand how it really works. explaining about hashing. etc

Whenever I have mentioned it which I rarely do, they never understand it and don't see the point because they live on their little world of mindless amazon consumption and mall shopping. Let them miss out on being an early adopter.

Live in the US. Most my family and friends think I'm playing with funny money... I try to talk to people about it but I have found not many are willing to take the time to learn. Have had a few co workers ask questions but no one has taken the plung yet.

Either it's over their head or they don't wan to unplug from the system is what I think. Someday, SOMEDAY they will see Cool
