I think she has to thank especially Tayyip Erdogan because without him she never win this award. Syrian refugee crysis hasn't damaged Europe because Turkey hold majority of refugees. If Turkey let them go Syrians will probably invade whole Europe.
Nope, not that. Because of this:
+ You've had bugged us, sweetheart.
- I wanted to hear your voice, you silly.

Invade with what? They are unarmed and with no permits to cross the border. If Europe wasn't ruled by liberals they'd be deported or in other words kicked out with an advice to seek refuge in some arab country.
Europe has no obligation to take any muslim refugees.

Angela Merkel was very popular, and very respected in Germany until last year. The people were trusting her for safeguarding the Euro against the Greeks and the Southern countries which are unable to control their budget. Then everything crashed with the migrants crisis and her decision to accept them all. So the Time sees her as a hero, but that won't help her in Germany. She's at the end of her career. Her popularity could have remained very high, but she will leave with many Germans grumbling, and afraid of the future.

I used to be a citizen and a taxpayer. Those days are long gone.

Runners up: terrorist nutcase, American TV fruitcake and Angela Merkel. I´m sure it was an all weirdo/nut panel that came up with that line-up and it definitely has some weirdo/nut agenda to push..

Her popularity has gone down only slightly. According to the latest opinion polls, her party (the CDU/CSU) remains as the most popular party in Germany. This is due to the fact that the opposition parties (SPD, Die Linke) are also pro-immigration. The only parties which are against the mass immigration of Muslims are the center-right Alternative für Deutschland and the far-right Nationaldemokratische Partei Deutschlands. But these two parties have a combined support of less than 10%.

^ not surprising. People with more extreme views many times are the loudest. Also true in this forum.

What happened to bernie sanders? Didn't he win the reader's poll for person of the year? And times didn't even consider him in their list.

Bernie Sanders is not the pro-establishment candidate. If he wins the Democrat primary, then it will be a very big blow for the fat American corporations. Many of them will go bankrupt if he becomes the POTUS in 2016. Well.. the indications are that it will never happen, thanks to the strong support which Hillary receives from the minorities.

Invade doesn't have to be with weapons. That's metaphor. It's not a middle age war.
I wish I could see politicians take some responsibility for all the chaos in Middle East but they are too busy expanding their own wealth. Congrats Merkel, you are a person of the year, but you're not even a good person.

Agreed with the Time's decision. For the past five years Angela Merkel has been lauded the most powerful woman in Europe. The first ever female German Chancellor, has overseen Europe’s largest economy since 2005, and has been credited with competently steering the country out of recession.

Merkel is not a woman to be underestimated. She wouldn’t have reached her position if she had been. “Merkel is much more ruthless than her image suggests,” says Studemann. “Her path to the top is littered with the bodies of rivals – including those who were once her patrons. She’s also prepared to use her femininity, to a degree. She loves to show up and embarrass macho men and can occasionally deploy some very eye-catching evening dress numbers.”

Days later one of the biggest papers in Germany, Bild-Zeitung, declared, “Where is Merkel’s man?” But her husband, Joachim Sauer, one of Germany’s most eminent quantum chemists (he narrowly missed the Nobel Prize recently) had decided his place was not in the spotlight. In fact, he has kept a low profile ever since, famously refusing to attend her inauguration as Chancellor because he was working at his laboratory at the Humboldt University in Berlin. He has, however, been a strong support to her during a leadership that has lasted longer than many expected.

Merkel took credit for what Gerhard Schröder did. Schröder had normalized Germany's relationship with Russia, and was instrumental in the construction of the Nord Stream pipeline. Cheap gas was made available for German industries, and the German farmers benefited enormously from increased food product exports to Russia.

More Jew news? American Jews are an amazing sub-set of the US population
4% of US population
97% of the bomb Iran/boots on the ground faction (aka send your kid, not mine faction)
88% of history channel stories.
60% of US TV/Movie comedians/actors/producers
50% of US White Collar Crimes
45% of US bankers
33% of US Supreme Court Justices
25% of US homosexuals
18% of Israel Defense Forces – Remember USS Liberty
.0003% of US military forces, haven't been many Jews in US military since 1949
While Jews are heavily over represented in American government, business, banking and entertainment, they remain highly underrepresented in positions in the US military. The reason for this stems from the small number of Jews who volunteer for military service. According to Department of Defense statistics, Jews, who make up about 4 percent of the overall population of this country, make up less than a third of a percent of the total number of those serving in the US armed forces. This not a recent phenomenon either.
The DOD lists precise religious preferences for the 58,152 Vietnam casualties. Protestants were 64.4 percent (37,483), Catholics were 28.9 percent (16,806). Less than 1 percent ( 0.8 ) were Jewish, Hindu, Thai, Buddhist or Muslim combined.
Jews expect, demand and insist that America stand ready to defend Israel against all threats, even when doing so may be at cross purposes with United States national interest or result in divisive American public opinion. Yet those who must stand ready to be in the forefront of this defense are overwhelmingly not Jewish. It should not be so. American Jews are much more likely to serve in Israel’s military. Why is this?
“Today, the Jewish state has a greater number of Jewish Americans serving than in any other military including their own (USA) military; with roughly 3,000 Americans who did not grow up in Israel serving”, said Israeli Defense Force (IDF) spokeswoman Lt. Libby Weiss.
The U.S. government doesn't discourage those wanting to join, but some may question why those willing to put themselves in harm's way would choose the IDF as opposed to the American military.
"As much I'm a proud American," said David Meyers of Belmont, California, "there's an incredibly deep and long connection that I have to Israel."
Their loyalty is to Israel not USA. Remember USS Liberty
