Most of them never sold for over 10BTC though...only Nubbins can get that high of a price lol.

Not 100% true !!
The last 2 I sold were for 14 each, both sold in the last 3 months, private sales
The 2 before that both cleared ~10 each, possibly the start of the year (hopeless with timings ...)
Didnt get as much as I could have for the 4 I sold before that, a few folks got bargains !
Wish I'd gotten a full roll of 12, rather than 'just' 9 (and the roll made up with s3s)

This looks a nice coin, good luck with the sale, expecting a few fireworks. Watching, probably not bidding, 'santa-nuts' been too busy spending already  Shocked

Ahhh, I see. (I am going to be lazy) Are there any historical sales to show how much this coin is worth? (or what is an estimate as to what this kind of coin is worth)

I sold one for 15 BTC a couple of days ago.
...but I have connections as a seller.
Wow that is quite the premium. I don't think I know of any other coins that fetch a 14.5BTC premium, or even have a crazy seller that is asking that large of a premium.

It is really too bad that I did not get actively involved in bitcoin around a year earlier then I did.

We all wish we got involved in bitcoin earlier haha, unless you are satoshi everyone feels the same way.  Its a real shame though but be thankful you aren't getting in when its $10k and some of mainstream tards are feeling good about their 2 bitcoins.

I should've STFU. Jealous of Blazed's deep pockets!

I knew what it was as well and was prepared to send it with my bids.

OP, can you do as Wheelz suggested and take a photo with your username and date showing with the hologram.  Once you do I imagine bids will continue to escalate.

Cheers!

Nice photo, I should have read further down thread.

So, I bid 8 then....

Just quoting to keep bids straight...so many extra posts here lol.

I bid 8.5BTC

If you are bidding then that is good for you. As a general rule, when there is conversation in auction threads people tend to not bid and/or forget to bid

Yes please verify that bid is legit. Normally I have them send some coins to prove it (refundable if outbid). I will top his bid if it is legit though  Shocked

LOL. I love Blazed.

He's pretty much saying 'COME AT ME BRO' to anyone who dares outbid him.

I'd like to clarify that in my OP, "Reputable bidders only" means no newbies and no accounts with poor trust ratings.

No offense to any well-intentioned newbies this might affect, but I want to ensure a smooth and simple transaction that both seller and buyer are happy with, with no complications.

At the moment, the high bid is 8.5 BTC from Blazed.

In other news, whoever posted this auction to Reddit -- thanks!! Very cool.

Some users prefer to stay somewhat anonymous in this matter so that's why you may be seeing  "newbie" bids... Just saying...

Agreed. I am pretty certain that is the case here. Any way around this for them to bid ?

Confidential 'Max bid' placed with a trusted escrow, and the newbie bidder bids upto it ?
or
'Max bid' funds provided to a trusted forum user to use as a proxy with them bidding on the newbie bidders behalf

(I guess you wouldnt even know if the second one was happening, unless they chose to reveal it .... Would just need to consider the shipping angle at the end of it)

CanaryInTheMine and MN are spot on; This is a case of a user who spend little time in front of the PC and values to be anonymous.

I have done multiple private deals with JackRilley and have found him to have the means to be good to his word.
I never had any problems when trading with JackRilley - everything went smooth.

Nevertheless, I respect that it is hephaist0s that ultimately decides the rules of this auction.

Ok, in this case I'll take TookDk's endorsement of JackRilley as enough to move forward.

Any future newbie bids will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, requiring either proof of funds, use of an escrow to hold the funds prior to bidding, or at minimum some kind of vouching for the newbie by an established forum member.

My apologies for the mixed messages, I'm scaling a learning curve here.

JackRilley's new bid of 10.5 BTC is the current high bid.

I have 1BTC 2011 series 2 Brass. (gave away the rest of them to family and friends).
How much is it worth? Spotcoins says only 511 were funded so it should be considered quite rare?

Off topic, but if it is clean and not graded probably 2 - 2.25 depending how clean it looks. Send me a picture and I can get you a better idea of value.

I will be wondering how close we will get to nubbin's sale of 14BTC, or if it will exceed it.

Best of luck to the winner.
