I hope 2017 is Decred year  Smiley
Well, definitely.
It will be the year of Decred.

Decred undoubtedly one of the best projects this year, and in the future it will only gain popularity. The more innovation, the more growth!

I had planned on putting some Decred in a wallet and leaving them, but I couldn't get the prometheus wallet happening, so I gave up.
For some reason it seemed difficult and I have downloaded and used many wallets

So does anyone have a price prediction as to where DCR could go? It surprised me so far, this coin is a decent one

I believe when the 2017 roadmap is completed, with Lightning Network, smart contracts and anon implemented, Decred can easily reach 0.1 btc or more.
Because there are less than 6 million units in the market, around 40% in the hands of holders and in stake.
With the new ticket value calculation algorithm chosen on this first community vote through blockchain, the ticket price will stabilize and the fees will decrease, the expectation is that this number will increase to 60%.

Agreed. In addition, once DCR is listed on Chinese, Japanese and Korean exchanges, we'll see another huge boost in volume and price.

I never really understood the whole hardfork thing itself. Can anyone explain what exactly happens? Can this in any way affect my DCR balance that I intend to keep for a long time? Do I need to upgrade the software or not?

So when will we have the next testnet voting for voting about voting about future possible voting on another hardfork voting so that we will be able to vote better while we are voting? So excited, I like voting! There's still lots of voting left on 2017 roadmap and you don't want to run out of causes for voting and work on some real new features.

Can someone explain the block rewards (subisidy) please?

https://dcrstats.com/subsidy

eg. currently:

Block subsidy: 24.81
DCR   PoW: 14.89
DCR   PoS vote: 1.49
DCR   Dev subsidy: 2.48

How come the block subsidy is more than POW + POS + DEV ??

Where is the currently 5.95 DCR going to each block ??

Thank you. It's clear now.

Still, I believe I saw blocks with less than 5 votes when I browsed the blockexplorer?!

So can less than 5 votes happen per block?

( BTW, how large is the current blockchain? )
Also, I created a new wallet and wrote down my seed.
Not 1 but 2 words are exactly the same in my seed. Is this considered "un/lucky" and in any way less secure than a seed with 33 genuine words??

Grim, there can be 3 to 5 votes per block. Blockchain size is 1,7 GB. There is nothing wrong with if you have some of the seed words the same.

Hello everyone,

Today the project would like to announce the launch of dcrtime and the introduction of blockchain-based timestamps to Decred. This is phase 1 of 2 in Decred's rollout of a censorship-resistant proposal system.

For a detailed write-up of dcrtime, please refer to the announcement blog entry. You can find the first dcrtime tx on the DCR mainnet here: https://mainnet.decred.org/tx/9af946f599e09d68b4590ced2e046c3f883411e1f06e199c073efa621af18d93

If you're interested in blockchain-based timestamps like dcrtime, also check out OpenTimestamps. Props to Peter Todd for his great work! Please also join the discussion on a dedicated forum thread if you want to leave persistent remarks or questions about dcrtime.

Sincerely,
Decred Project
