The problem is actually how large is an electron.  cause down to a certain size, it just simply wont fit through the gate when activated.....  Also the smaller the trace the easier it is for an electron to jump lanes and be where its totally not supposed to be.    This has been an issue in the development of small size IC for a little bit now.

If by some Jesus engineering we ever surpass 1 nm we will just start measuring in pm ( picometers ).

Yeah,you can do pre-orders,make millions then tell those same customers "Thanks for the bankroll now go fuck yourself,the next several generations of our hardware is ours!!" 

Then come back saying "Hey,we're gonna sell you some miners/chips in a few weeks",then not say a fuckin word for months!!!

As far as anyone knows they have not taken a single Satoshi from the Public. All costs from the earthquake delay at TSMC has been born by BitFury, it's investors, and whoever they have lined up as integrators to actually build miners using their chip.

Now if any integrators counting on using the chips have taken pre-orders for miners from the general public -- dunna know. Certainly cannot blame BitFury if any did -- that would be between said miner mfgr's  and their customers.

I guess it would technically be possible to have a "0nm" chip based on some futurisitic quantum design that takes on an entirely different form than anything currently.
