Now, I know what you're about to write, but me let me stop you before you start and explain first Wink

2x XFX 5850 cards (egg cooler). Both won't POST. (no POST = fans start spinning, nothing else happens)

Tried 2 different PSU's. 600W (corsair CX builder) and an 850W NorthQ which runs a GTX 480 without breaking sweat.

Tried 2 different motherboards.

Both cards plugged in seperately every time.

Tried several BIOS versions on motherboard #1. Motherboard #2 is my main and has the newest BIOS.

BOTH XFX 5850 (ZNFA ver 3.3) refuse to pass POST.

Either XFX is an extremely crappy brand, or I'm missing something completely here.

Anyone had any experience with XFX 5850's no POST'ing?

tried plugging them in one at a time?

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

Sorry, didn't specify that.

Both were only plugged in 1 at a time.

diagnostic procedure:
1. disconnect 5850
2. plug in another card that is known to be working
3. do not disturb any other parts of the PC
4. see if it works

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

See, that's the "head scratching" part.

BOTH cards experience the exact same behaviour. The chances of getting 2 cards, in seperate shipments, that are both DOA... can't even get my head around how unlucky I must be then, ROFL.

if shipping isn't expensive, RMA one of the card. (just to test if it's really broken)

another possibility: your motherboard hates ATI/XFX video cards Cheesy

2 completely different motherboard. A low quality ASRock and a high quality Gigabyte.

It's possible too that something happened in shipping. Or that they are from the same bad line run.
