Apparently Bank of America no longer wants my business. They are closing all my accounts because I put too much money in them from poker???

This guy is a legend and he has made so much money that his bank wants to take it all lol. If only he was aware about Bitcoin, he could be playing for Bitcoin and dealing with his own money gains directly instead of thought banks.

This was a good example how banks are dominating and taking over the peoples money. I love bitcoin because nobody can take it without my permission and no any country is restricted to use global payment processor like paypal have against developing countries.

There is some reason why bank closed all of his account. If there is no reason your account is being shutdown I think you can start a trial and they should be the on who wrong here for closing people account without any reason. Just because of the much money in his account doesnt mean that he deserves to be blocked by bank. This doesnt make any sense

When a bank closes your account, they do not confiscate your funds.  They give you a bank draft for your balance and tell you to be on your way.  Some banks are hesitant to accept and/or hold accounts that have high traffic transactions in them for fear of money laundering or proceeds of crime.

Probably the bank is uneasy with the origin of the money stored in his accounts which is gambling lol. By the way even Coinbase will shut down your account if they find out you are gambling through it.

This guy is a legend and he has made so much money that his bank wants to take it all lol. If only he was aware about Bitcoin, he could be playing for Bitcoin and dealing with his own money gains directly instead of thought banks.

But if he played with Bitcoin, he would not be as famous as he is (which strongly contributes to his wealth). I mean, Pokerstars does not accept BTC as far as I know (nor they have plans of doing it).

Also, he can easily move to another bank. Even if they were to take his money, unless he did/is doing something illegal, he could easily sue them (and such a big company would not want to ruin its reputation for a few millions).

It's not the bank, it's the government, keeping people's money is what banks do, all money is good money for them, unless the government says otherwise.

Negreanu plays poker since before bitcoin was created, plus there's no bitcoin poker for his league...

It could sound strange but the bank and credit card circuit not accept all type of business...
They choice also what type of "sexual behaviour" could be acceptable and couldn't.
Some times ago I read an interesting article about it on Vice.

This news about D.Negrenau not surprise anymore Smiley

He's obviously been up to a lot more than just putting his poker earnings in.

It's very easy for him to be involved in lots of cash business deals & say 'I won it on Poker'.

Banks are shady AF but he's obviously been putting large amounts of cash in that he can't prove where it's come from.

there must be something wrong , DNeg is a legend and there is no reason to close his accounts
he has cashed over 20M$ in live tourneys , he is the real poker face !!!
when he plays online poker he plays from Canada , and I think all live events are legal , so there is no point in closing his account
they will probably cancel this shit

That is odd. There must be something else going on. That's money the bank could be making money from. Maybe BoA just doesn't like vegans.

And as a side note, who's to say Kid Poker doesn't play bitcoin poker? Maybe he does, secretly. Not that that would have anything to do with BoA telling him to take his monies and hitting the bricks.

coinbase the only bitcoin wallet blocked gambling activities, the rest are very welcome. so bitcoin still a freedom of everything.
in this case, bank of america wouldn't care if you are a poker player or addicted gambler i think,
because they are only care about blocked gaming transaction  right?

Or maybe he pissed off a BoA executive by taking a boatload of money off him with a suckout/bad beat in a private high stakes poker game.

The bank definitely wants out of the "bad" reputation Negreanu is sending them. That if there's no more than meets the eye, many sports stars had a lot of trouble with the law and tax evasion and I won't be surprised if some of that is what's actually going on.

True, DN is a professional, unfortunately, there isn't a tournament worth his time in Bitcoin, this only means that someone should start planning a huge poker tournament for Bitcoin to get the big names involved, so poker in Bitcoin is not only amateurs do but having big names in the game will give us a ton of publicity too, ideally will avoid stuff like this in the future (even tho the IRS will still ask for their Bitcoins to be taxed, but they can just steal them from you if they get paid directly in personal addresses).

There`s got te be more reasons why bank did such thing to him. If its just cause he put a lot of money in bank then its hard for me to believe. And its written frozen, maybe there is some other reason for that.
Anyway I will agree with op. Put your money where u can control it and u will not have this kind of problems.

sad, of course, to hear that sometimes the business of life, relatively speaking, transformed in an instant into ashes, and what appeared to be far ahead, in your hands, but alas, nothing is forever, but nothing to break the mood and pain to be turned into exhaustion, legend , already has a legend...

That's crazy. Of course they won't take the funds but they are making a statement that they won't deal with gamblers, even legitimate ones.

Negreanu is one of the main faces of Poker and for them to slight him like this is huge imo. Glad I don't bank at BoA.
