I can't find my wallet.dat anywhere within my /bitcoin directory (or any subdirectories therein).  I did some test transactions from the pool I'm in and sent a grand total of maybe .05 BTC to my Bitcoin address and they're showing up in the Received tab.  However, I *may* have deleted the entire /bitcoin directory and then re-installed -- I honestly can't remember.  I'm not too worried about the .05 BTC I have potentially lost.  What does worry me is if I do another transaction from my pool's website to my Bitcoin address, will it automatically create a new wallet.dat, or will the coins become lost in limbo since I don't already have a wallet.dat on my system?

Edit:  Nvm, found it in my \Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin\ directory.  Freakin Windows...

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Please mark your thread as [solved], thanks  Wink

For easy access, you can type %appdata%\Bitcoin in the explorer address bar.
