This situation with higher than usual number of generated blocks has some negative effect on bitcoin stability? Because this:

And the unconfirmed transactions drops under 2k  Shocked

Is rather positive information imo.

Ok, so, reading through this thread, theere doesnt seem to be much of a consensus here on what is causing this. Some seem to believe it's a new farm/chip being tested, while others say its simply an expected anomoly.

Both, seem to make sense, or at least be theoretically true.... so which is it?

If it goes on like this it is pretty clear that more hashing power is going online.

looking at the last 4 difficulty change dates which should be 14 days apart (2016 blocks /144 blocks a day)

Dec 18 2015    18.14%    668,931,642 GH/s
Dec 06 2015    8.77%    566,236,898 GH/s
Nov 24 2015    10.44%    520,569,941 GH/s
Nov 11 2015    5.77%    471,360,171 GH/s

Are the difficulty and hashrate projections by AlexGR correct, or is he joking?

He says that in about 3.5 days the hashrate will be 846,369,830 GH/s which is almost 200,000,000 GH/s more than on Dec 18. That's a massive jump whatever the cause of it is!

Bitcoin Difficulty:   93,448,670,796
Estimated Next Difficulty:   105,042,722,011 (+12.41%)
Adjust time:   After 570 Blocks, About 3.5 days
Hashrate(?):   846,369,830 GH/s Cheesy

edit

He wasn't joking, blockchain.info shows the Hash Rate is 943,007,800.23 GH/s

I do think it is because the hash rate has increased together with the power rate when it comes to mining. Usually, when a very powerful chip is installed into an existing system, there is always that time period meant for adjustments. It is something that need to be looked into properly since it can also be an indication of a person trying to mess up with the system. I am hoping it will not take forever and the developers need to be working tirelessly to resolve the issue above.

No worries, its  just statistical variation. People usually complain when there re too few blocks generated.

Even if it was only a test... and someone has developed a new chip or are planning to switch on a new farm.... it would not be a huge problem in the long run... The difficulty will

just be increased to adapt to this and things will be back to normal. I am just glad this was picked up this quickly... and even if the warning was a bit premature.. it was still

effective and shows that the community is alert.  Wink

The spike is very clear -> https://blockchain.info/charts/hash-rate

We are set for another record breaking increase in difficulty (or almost) in a couple of days.

Does it have anything to do with mining???
I mean any miners having some special conditions installed which allocate them the ability to generate these blocks in much rapid speed???

when there is down, there is up. so it may not seems like the normal but that is ok if it happens seldomly. we should be more worried if it keep happening a few times every week.

this is like saying, "we had an average of 1 block every 5 minutes for the past 4 day", double of the luck, would have been an issue in case it was every 1-2 minutes maybe...

as i see it it can happen, like it happened in the past that for two hours there were no blocks

4 hours not days..

i think luke_Jr had an itchy trigger finger and wanted to test out the bitcoin alert system.. even he, as a pool owner and developer should know that the difficulty doesnt change for 2 weeks.. so if a new miner has come on the scene or an existing miner has upped their hashing power, the difficult wont compensate for many days..

and the chances of a miner upping their hashrate is not once in 50 years... its an every day risk..
where did luke_jr even get that 50year statistical calculation from??

I'm glad I'm not the only one loosing my mind after I read that hence reading this far in the thread to see WTF. I'm better now and going back to my egg nog enemas, for it's all the rage here in Sandwich, IL, well, at least on this side of town, okay in this neighborhood... okay only on this street... fuck it, just in this house at this desk at this laptop. You guys are smarter than I thought and figured it pretty quick.

I would just complain when there is opposite situation and not block find for a long time. It`s clear that someone turn on big number of powerfull miners. Difficulty is raising like a hell. Statisctics is about big numbers and there shell be allright.
