customers on mtgox lost millions, so the usa government confiscated them and sold them, is that money going to the victims or does the government keep it all?

I have a feeling the government keeps it all and if thats true, that is really really fucked up, its basically a scammer(mtgox) stealing from a scammer(usa government not giving to the victims and keeping for themselves) isn't it?

As far as I know, the goverment puts auctions and just make a bid and whoever wants to buy them buy them (obviousy I guess you need to meet certain criteria like, being a US citizen and not being a criminal etc). They are probably too stupid to realize its value and sell all of it for dollar and don't keep any for long term.

Different cases Smiley Mt Gox coins, if found are (supposedly) going to their right owners. Silk Road coins were seized for alleged criminal activities and afterwards auctioned, as per US law.
