This is more for curiosity purposes than anything. Say someone gets a loan and then gambles it on SatoshiDice or something, loses the money and can't pay back. They probably get a scammer tag. The question is "Is that permanent?" I mean obviously they can create a new account and rep and start from the beginning. However, does the scammer tag last for an amount of time? Proportional to number or amount of coins scammed? If they work and repay the loan with added interest late and the lender says they made up for it does it get removed? Let me know if there's any policy in this area or maybe just post a forum link to where I have overlooked the information.

Yes. The scammer tag is removed once reparations are made, but AFAIK, there isn't some type of arbitrary time period. If a defaulter comes back with a plan and is trying to make amends, the scammer tag is not usually applied.
(running off memory from information Theymos gave something like a year ago. Dunno if policy changed or memory's failing, but pretty sure that's how it works.)

It depends if the deity you pray to for forgiveness accepts bitcoins, for example, if you were a Mormon and stole bitcoins, you're screwed, but the Jews however [redacted racial stereotype].
If you're not sure, it never hurts to try anyway.

Are Mormon's not Christians who believe they can be forgiven? Or are you saying their church won't take bitcoins? Try suggesting they add a BTC QR address on the collection plate, see what these "Christians" say  |

Yup. Not only that, but we will typically even provide people with the scammer tag who are trying to work it off with free escrow service. Of course, almost everything that comes in on the escrow and successfully released is directly used to pay their debt, so don't be going out of your way to become eligible for this free service... |
