It is really (mostly) just "luck". Just like with die rolling. You can roll 12 times a die and get never a six. The next 12 rolls might result in four sixes. If the POW function is correctly made the distribution should be perfectly random. (Unlike the normal dies with drilled holes where - I believe - the six is a bit more or less often than expected due to the reduced weight.) A bit of a disadvantage is a slow internet connection, because if two miners find a block at the same time the miner with the faster connection can distribute his block faster and wins the majority of nodes for his block. The other block is discarded and of no value.

Btw. the 270 HPs are four PCs with four nodes (AMD and Intel) each.

I'm mining with +-75hps, I didn't get anything for 3 days straight, but then I got 3 blocks in the next 5 hours, and now it's been 2 days without any blocks, so yeah it's totally random  Cheesy

Remember it's best to use default miner settings, i.e. minermemory 1.

I've just started mining with 8gb RAM on Microsoft Azure VPS. Will I get my coins if my mining address is from my windows wallet (not vps)? Do you know if azure high compute instances have 16 cores/ 2 threads each? Now I mine on D5v2 and I don't know if A11 have more threads.

Why do you need debug window? There is the menu item "solo mining on"
Anyway, it's the same as "setgenerate true -1" in the debug window.

just don't run the client with the -minermemory option.

because i need to set the number of core, you can't do this with the solo mining on

How come there isn't a pool yet? Is it because HOdl uses a unique algo?

Work is being done on a standalone CPU miner that will allow pool mining.  It will be announced when completed.

A standalone CPU or GPU miner would be a great news.
