I don't remember if DMD had an IPO for (let's call it) "development", but if they/you had it's just so bad. You are collecting people's funds based on ideas alone, not on results. The reason that new features get funded in BURST is not speculation; we know, e.g., our AT-dev and happily award him coins for the work we know he is willing to do and complete.

PoS has one advantage: it's even more power saving than PoC, +20 percent if I recall it correctly, but that's about it. The PoC network is secured by miners just like PoW, and that's a great thing as the devs always need to keep mining interesting with the possibility of value increasements due to invention - not due to a damn algorithm. In the case of BURST, we are just in a period of such invention and increasing value is ahead to those who both buy and mine (after a period without a maindev).

Sorry for using "we" here, I am not part of the Dev Team but the "we" come pretty naturally with such tight community and soon two years of involvement one way or the other.

DMD started also with zero premine same as BURST

its good to see people here are with hearth blood defending their coin

but im not attacking

i posted my opinion u posted ur opinion

topic still open for other voices

i did a fast calculation buy hdd capacity never beats buy coins on exchange
so mining with POC is paradise for people who have access to shitload unused storage

IT admins of companies
owner of IT parts shops

who for real can see if the new HDD u bought didnt spend a few month mining POC
before u bought it....

all i wana say is the world is not fair always some kind of people have advantage
and in my opinion who spend money into buy coin should have advantage
and not because of some other reasons

Sure, most things are unfair - and I'm not even sure things should be fair. Still, PoS is the worst design of PoW, PoC and PoS. And PoW has to go.

Regarding fairness, I've a bit over 100TB and haven't so far bought a single MB. What I've needed to buy is SATA cables  Cheesy And dedicate a shit load of time to get this whole mess to run. Cheesy Everything is chaos but people actually give old boxes and drives away. With this approach I'm now at top20 of all-time forgers. Ofc, most don't have that time nor a problem begging everyone you meet for disks. Fair..? Nah....  Wink

What I'm happy about with BURST is the relentless goal of development, and I'm confident it will pay off in an epic way.

I tweet about BURST @ https://twitter.com/Turn0ff_tweets/with_replies Follow and retweet if you like the focus Smiley

I think agree to disagree is great here, if you guys want to argue with someone, find some big bankers and argue that our platforms, whether PoC or PoS or whatever it may be, beats the current systems in place by a whole freakin' lot, THAT is where we should put our argument focus.

Here, we're in CRYPTO, no matter the coin you choose, we're TOGETHER in this 'fight' against the antiquated systems we have.

I'm VERY happy to see you here DMD man, and I look forward to working with you in the future, and any other crypto leaders who would like to support each other. THIS is how things should be, and THIS is what I will continue to promote.

It shouldn't be coin vs coin, or style vs style, it should be US vs THEM, showing the regular people the better way to do things, and collaborating wherever possible. THIS is what will bring us into the mainstream and away from the systems we know for SURE are not working. The current ones.

So let us not squabble over which amazing tech is the best, and instead point our focus on the future, and how we will WORK TOGETHER to accomplish COMMON GOALS with coins that are COMMON IN INTEREST AND FAIRNESS.

WELCOME TO THE BURST COMMUNITY, DMD LEADER. WE'RE HAPPY AS HELL TO HAVE YOU!

Of course, cryptonit, welcome here!  Smiley Sorry about the, I assume, perceived hostility; I've had a shitty day and it was fun arguing with someone who could think. My co-workers irl always say my e-mails come off as angry when it's some sort of weird way of showing respect. That's one of many reasons I should never have an official role at work nor in the crypto-world.

I hope this encounter will not color your impression of BURST as such; if you get a bad impression of me, it's just me. Also, since the new OP, things have been fine here without all the trolls. Let's say if you launch a combined PoS/PoC coin, I'll mine it (even if I'd vote for a clone of BURST with a slower emission rate!)  Wink

-[ANN]- Working on new OP

edit - NEW OP IS UP!

I am aware of a couple small issues that I'm having taken care of, namely under the 'mining and plotting' section.

But it is okay, we're on it!

1 more small issue left. Some advice for now... a great time to BUY. Some neat things on the horizon... and also... here's some neat stuff too!

I like the advert sets! However, I would suggest that the delay between each frame in the large one with all the text is increased, because it is almost impossible to read the message before it changes.

seems i found like 3,5 tb empty hdd capacities now lets give this a  try Smiley

i like that all the tools are added already to the win wallet

but as i understand its not the full and best selection of tools

example a GPU plotter missing

beside that i think yes thats the right path make a toolbox attached to the GUI wallet
make stuff as easy as possible for people

as said before buy HDD to mine make no sense buy coins is better

but utilize unused space why not

long term path to success can be only services and apps which utilize BURST chain
but as i understand ur team know that and working on it

over all even now after spend a bit more time with BURST i think it cold establish well

i think all know the website is a very weak point
same as all the gathered guides and tipps and tricks
when lot are outdated and have broken links and so on

and the first post on this ANN is also ina unreadable state missing pictures and not ideal structured

as always just constructive feedback

i dont have to tell ya whats great u know that urself
so i tell ya what is not so great even if i guess u know that urself too

Yea, we're on every aspect of this mentioned, the OP should be fixed today, that was new as of yesterday, links on the website I'll be handling shortly, and will be adding more to it as well. For now, I've put the OLD OP back, the links are all up to date though.

The aspect of purchasing drives is only for the bold at the moment, that's true, but I firmly believe once we've implemented our changes the coin's value will increase quite a bit and buying drives will be something that everyone will want to do. We also have other plans for that within a whole other idea I'm not presenting publicly yet.

The OP looks great IF the pics ever fully load, but we're having another done without as many pictures as we speak I should have that up by tomorrow latest if not later today.

The outdated links will soon be updated when we release some new releases I'll make new how to videos using the new stuff, as well as writing up some new guides. We have been a lot more focused on the back end, but the time is coming VERY soon that we will focus on the front, and the public aspect. That's what the banner ads are a part of, as well as much more

@banner ad comment, I agree, the longest worded one will be slowed down a bit. Thanks!

Can somebody explain the use of plot optimizing? I'm a small timer using different size drives I had laying around, 500gig, 1TB's and such but normally just plot each drive in sequence with nonces, no overlaps though, but just recently discovered the plot optimizer. What does it do? Will it increase read speeds for my jminer? Find lower deadlines? Just curious.

1. Will it increase read speeds for miners?  - Yes
2. Find lower deadlines? - No

optimizer - changes structure of plot

for example, miner must read scoop #1 (blue arrows)
so, if plot optimized, miner reads sequence from HDD, without long SEEKs

I have 2 plots (the same size) at same HDD :
17930413153828766298_69900000_1000000_4000  -  not optimized, reading time 3818 ms
17930413153828766298_64900000_1000000_1000000  -  optimized, reading time 2143 ms

Relax, I’m russian!...

So is there / would it be possible to produce a Plotter that produces and optimised plot as a single process?

Yes, Cryo's GPU plot generator https://github.com/bhamon/gpuPlotGenerator/releases
Buffered or direct writing support.

I use Cryo's GPU generator in Direct mode.  Maybe it's just my system but the generator looks like it has crashed for most of the plot creation, there is no progress update.  I just monitor my hard-drives activity.  During this 1st stage there is little to no GPU activity.  After awhile (hours) the GPU kicks in.  The process takes longer than the buffer method but when it is done you have an optimized plot.  Most of my plot files are 500GB optimized and I have a few 1TB optimized plots.  ~16TB all optimized takes about 15sec to process using Luxes Jminer, and this is with the GPU also mining Ether with not noticeable change to Ether mining.

On a side note, My 280X can process the plots in 15 seconds (245MiB/s avg) while the 280 and 390X can only hit 145MiB/s avg.   Not sure why *shrugs*

Thanks for the info, looks like I will be re-plotting for the third time... It's a pity that there is not a definitive guide on how to get the fastest plot, I had learnt that stagger size was important but had not reaslised that the GPU plot generator also produced an optimised plot?

I had tried GPU plot generator but in tests it did not seem faster than wplotgenertor so stuck with what I knew, also thought that with the relatively small amount of memory that a GPU has that would restrict stagger size?

So for interest / comment before I re-plot the whole lot again I have 35TB of plots on 4TB & 5TB USB drives. There are typically 3 Plots on each drive using a stagger of 98304. They run through using jminer in 9 Seconds at the moment, this is with Radeon R9 290X although it's almost as fast using the built in GPU in the i7-4790K CPU.

So is it worth  doing optimised plots or is there a Windows re-plotter available, or is the gain going to be small?

If you're mining the whole thing in 9 seconds, replotting optimized is going to make minimal difference.

The GPU plotter in direct mode does take a while to plot - it'll sit at 1% or less for hours, then start plotting in earnest, basically it's writing out the whole plot file as mostly empty space during that 1% phase, then writing actual data after that.

Everyone should contribute to this. 0.5 btc is absolutely nothing in a marketing perspective, and a small thing such as an e-mail alert to all yobit users can have a potent effect. After all, Burst has so much potential to offer, and the sooner people get on board, the better for everybody.

Also, as I have mentioned before, a crowdfund for running a marketing campaign on sites dedicated to the marketing of crypto-related projects could be a good idea. The banners Crowetic showed us are well suited for this.

I have a feeling that Burst has a quite steady organic growth, but does anybody have statistics over how many users/miners/traders or forum website visitors we have? It would be nice to get a perspective.

Just donated 10,000 burst, hope I did it right and it helps!

Both listed Block Explorers on the first page seems to be dead.
