I'm pretty fed up and getting kind of burned out on it too.

Me too, its been a while coming. I'm now selling my miners and associated equipment, selling my BTC and spending the money on something that will benefit me and my family now. It wont be a lot to be fair but anything is better than the constant shit on here.

Sad to say that the shit and scum have beaten me down now to a point where I dont even want to come on here anymore for the sake of my own sanity Sad.

Vern had a business that supposedly made about 2000 btc/yr in profit. Why would he give up a multi million dollar business to steal money he can never spend? If he ever tries to spend the coins he's toast. If you think it through logically Vern is probably not the thief. He's losing a multi million dollar profitable business and facing risk of jail and bankruptcy for what? He can't even spend the coins even if he did move them out of Cryptsy's wallet.

No he's not ... mixers?  Hell shapeshift -> Monero/anon currency of choice

He could if he wanted to. The biggest obstacle would be being monitored by authorities. So for e every high-value purchase - he would have to be able to prove that money he paid with came from legit activities.

That's all just a speculation off course, I don't know the man and I'm not accusing him of anything.

i know you lost faith.. but even so. dont sell 100%.. just keep an amount of bitcoin you dont care losing.. (eg just a few days of fastfood spending(~$100)) and hold it in a paper wallet, forget about it for a few years and get on with your life.. you never know what will happen after this drama has subsided and people realise that while everyone is crying, bitcoin code still exists and still churns out blocks.. and will do for the next 100 years, no matter what the drama is

How does he ever spend it though. If he gets caught pulling a couple million out of Robocoin or blows it on shopping, he still has to get the stuff he buys sent somewhere. Realistically, can he ever spend more than maybe a few hundred coins without drawing a lot of heat onto himself? If he shows up and buys a new car with cash or bitcoin it will leave a paper trail and open up alot of questions. Realistically, he stands to gain much more by NOT pulling this crap. He's a victim too here as much as bad guy.

Vern is in divorce proceedings in Florida. His address and lawyer's address should be there in the paperwork. Put an outline describing the information you have and as much as you can divulge into a legal envelope and mail it with confirmed delivery. Save the receipt. Also mail yourself a copy which you keep sealed in case you later have to prove the paper trail on sending them the info. Send a copy to Vern's/Cryptsy's lawyers. Inform them that you expect the 1000 BTC reward IF YOUR INFO TURNS OUT TO GET THE COINS BACK. Negotiating for 30 per cent or for upfront payment will be unrealistic. After you get the money back in Cryptsy's wallet you should get the 1000btc. The bounty was publicly posted. If you get the coins returned then they'll have the money to pay 1000 btc reward.
That's my opinion on it anyway. I'm not from Cryptsy so can't personally guarantee anything.
PAUL EDWARD VERNON 9721 SADDLEBROOK DRIVE - BOCA RATON, FLORIDA 33496

There is a thread full of posts by people tracking Big Vern's old houses, and his latest one. I don't know how accurate this post is, but it gives a different address to the one you supplied. Your address might be more up to date than the one below, but a look through that thread would probably find the latest address.

so basically you posted a link to a house that paul Vernon bought in 2004 and is for sale now.  thats an awesome smoking gun.
There is no lien, never was and guaranteed there wont ever be.
He has not been foreclosed on and was never in foreclosure.  (pre foreclosure is just a bullshit term).

Seems like ...monsters are due on maple st...or as its termed here fud

Would this tidbit interest you? Looks like Paul Vernon and Lorie Nettles are now settled in an even larger home situated on a lot that was vacate the year prior, of which explains away why he's unloading his previous digs - ALL THANKS TO CRYPTSY: http://www.co.palm-beach.fl.us/papa/Asps/PropertyDetail/PropertyDetail.aspx?parcel=00424629130003540&

If you really have info on the coins you need to send it in the mail TO VERN's/CRYPTSY's LAWYERS, confirmed delivery so you have a paper trail showing where/when it was sent in case you have to prove it later. Buy the postage with a card that's in your name. You want a chain of evidence showing you provided the info so you can claim the bounty and prove it if need be. Vern has a fiduciary duty to follow up on this info if credible. Of course, he had a fiduciary duty to disclose the hack a year and a half ago but still.

yeah sure he can hide his wealth but the problem comes when he wants to spend the money its not that easy when you have some kind of history. so i highly think he is a smart fellow who doesnt pull these kind of tricks. if its done by a pro then no way you could track that out OP, but the naivety of the cryptsy team is showcased here. being a financial institute its silly how security engineers allowed to open client request in high valued machines. i dont get the full merit of the case, but from what i heard, things were just silly

This gave me the biggest laugh today ! Smiley

Did you guys read his tweets ??

"@cryptsy I'm close to solving what happened with your exchange but before I divulge any information I want a contract with the amount..."

My goodness, who in the world would take that seriously ?  I know I wouldn't ... heck ... trust me, I too am close to solving what happened.  Just commit to me that you'll share 30% of money you've lost and I'll obviously share all the details from my crack investigation.

Dude - give it up.....

i highly doubt you know the identity of the 'hacker' unless you participated in it, were an employee at cryptsy and worked from the inside to help with this or Huh

sorry there is only so much investigative work that can be done with the info he provided

any novice knows that

those coins have not moved so not like you can trace them

even if you ran or had access to a bitcoin node that had every ip address connected to the network at the time of the theft you would really be no closer, unredeemed at output means just that

no wallet that contains the private key that corresponds to the public key was ever connected to the bitcoin network

while i can't prove it sounds like me you are making this up

if anyone / the person who started this thread or someone else can explain to me in concept (unless you were in on the theft) exactly how from the information provided you can find out who it is , bring it on

Check out my coin Photon

They should just continue with the investigation and get experts to follow the hackers digital footprints. It will eventually lead them to the guilty party. A white hat hacker would have offered the information for free to help the community, but I guess you not coming in from that side.

All hackers involved in Bitcoin should be against this type of actions, because it hurts their pockets too, every time this happens in the Bitcoin community. In the end people will lose trust in the technology and the price will drop and their Bitcoin holdings will be worth nothing.

Do the right thing, a lot of innocent people lost a lot of money and you want to profit from that, while they are suffering.

But why is the OP asking for 30% of the stolen coins that's like 3000+ coins? The announced bounty is 1000 coins and that's a pretty good sum itself.

Because, apparently, he values his time spent on tracking the hacker down + 'incurred expenses' at >$1 million.

Still waiting on Verns response.

Paul Vernon: You want my response? You can't handle my response! You're Goddamn right I stole the moneys and, as promised, all those on the planet who rightfully believe it was I are now entitled to my promised 1000 BTC reward. Please remit to me a plan as to how to dole out the ~1.42857125e-7 BTC - sans fees - to everybody on the planet so that we can get this unfortunate episode behind us and rebuild Cryptsy.

The irony is, we will never know the resolution of this... If OP were paid the bounty, he would not reveal the information in public. If Vern was in on it,

he would pay the bounty and just keep quite. I would rather just make it public and take donations from the public. We have seen how generous this

community has been before, when people do good deeds.  Wink
