As for the lottery it's pure luck. A few weeks ago someone won 1st prize with 10 tickets only, maybe someone who tried the faucet for a few hours and then went away, thinking too it's a waste of time.
For him it wasn't as he has now more than 2.16BTC on his account.

I don't even buy lottery tickets, I play free roll and have around 250 tickets each week. I went up to 600k tickets before when I played multiply btc game, but never won any prize at lottery.

The guy was lucky enough I might say..
I am just wondering, is he/she logged in again to check his account balance or not?  
I am 100% sure the guy will be very much surprise to know that he was the winner.

1.5yrs ago I was very active there and I regularly bought some lottery tickets along with the free ones. But I also never won any prizes.

In the faucet, I always rolled this 0 - 98850
and about 3-5 times I rolled 9886 - 9985
Never even rolled the third prize.

He was probably lucky that he won such a big amount without even giving much time to the site. Because we all know that he must have rolled for just 5 times to get those 10 tickets, or maybe he didn't even do any free rolls but he got those tickets from a referral.
I wish i had a luck like him i did not even win the smallest prize having around 30k tickets one week when i deposited some bitcoins just to buy tickets, but it didn't pay off and i did not try that again and now i just use bitcoins from faucet to buy tickets.

That's patently untrue, it's a provably fair lottery. They publish the server seed and the MD5 hash of the user list before the lottery and then use a future bitcoin block hash as the client seed. They put that all out in advance on their Twitter feed so you can prove the results yourself.

I think the fact that the first prize this week stands at over BTC2.2 shows that the bitcoin crowd doesn't share your view and the lottery is very successful.

Apart from that, what people don’t realize when they make that kind of complaints is that casinos and lotteries, especially the biggest ones, don’t need to rig anything to make loads of money.

We can say roughly that they have a gross daily profit of 15 btc. Net profit might be less than that due to the free btc game and operating costs but with those impressive data they can run a honest business that grows and keeps growing due to, among other reasons, the good reputation they have.

There are 70,972,222 tickets sold at the moment unless you want to compete with buying millions and millions tickets i think claiming from faucet and buying 50 tickets is waste of time.
Owner actually did nice strategical move with lowering ticket price to only 2 satoshi.

Obviously, because there are a very large number of tickets, and even if you buy tickets with a very big amount, you will still have very less chances of winning. Lotteries are also a part of gambling, you put money in it, either you win big, or you win nothing.

I personally don't find it time consuming at all. I don't give it much time, i just do a free-roll every time i remember it, and buy tickets with the satoshis of that free roll, and wait every week to see if i get lucky or not, i never got lucky yet
