^^All those people who sell Starbucks and similar gift cards at like 50% of their value--those have absolutely got to be stolen/carded/hacked/cracked.  Anything that looks too good to be true probably is and there are so many things for sale on this forum that look way, waaaay too good to be true.

Edite to add:  Whoops, I mean to point the arrows at Jhanza's reply.
even if it is probably is too good to be true, there is probably no way to find out is there?
Um, yes you could buy it and find out when the gift card gets canceled or the cops show up at your door.  My point is that you can assume with good confidence that if someone's selling something that looks too good to be true, that it is stolen/carded/hacked/cracked.

For me, I'm not going to risk it.
OK, so going by your logic, go out and buy the stuff you think are cracked/hacked/stolen and tell us they get cancelled or the cops show up at your door then make a scam accusation thread when you have the evidence

/thread
My point was that yes you can find out if things are too good to be true, by getting caught. I wasn't suggesting it as a method of proof.

No its not, I mediated a scam accusation a while back and the password for the account in question was also a password commonly found (as in several times) in e.g. the web000 database dump. They are either obtained via phishing or because of weak password. Most of the sellers even advise you not to change the password, which should make you cancel the deal immediately. People are greedy though and in their eyes they only steal from the big companies so there is no harm done. This is nothing new, the only new part is that these keys/passwords are now resold for bitcoin. The question is whether or not theymos wants something to be done about it. IMHO it easily falls under the "illegal goods" rule same as fake IDs or funny money.

I wonder why this thread hasn't been mentioned even once: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=134779.0 . Is it ineffective ATM?

Its too specific about invites to be applied here.

Yes they will; starting with me. These accounts fall under rule 17. I'll delete any threads that I see/can delete.

According to the stats of my reports nothing happend or a mod choosed to dissmiss it. I reported only three thread were the op stated the accounts were hacked. I might recall my stats wrong but it seems so. I will just go on and report everything that smells fishy.

Edit: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1327486.0 i would love to learn that this is legal. I just would like to know why i can buy accounts that cheap. Shouldnt be a problem to explain it if its legal.
Unfortunately I can not moderate members of higher hanks there at this time. Any reported threads started by newbies will be removed. 99% of those threads that sell accounts for very cheap are hacked/stolen and thus illegal. It is time that we cleared this place out.

I wonder why this thread hasn't been mentioned even once: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=134779.0 . Is it ineffective ATM?
That's too complicated for a big userbase. It would be best to "reinstate" the rule against these accounts; he posted about it somewhere.

Don't you think you should check with theymos first before taking things into your own hands and going renegade? Why are you going to trash all threads by newbie accounts but not going to do anything about the rule mexxer linked to? Isn't your idea of trashing all these threads going to be 'too complicated for a big userbase'? And what threads are you going to trash or not? Just people selling Hulu/Netflix accounts very cheaply or torrent invites and gift codes etc as well? Would you trash bipolarbob's threads? Are you going to trash a newbie's thread if he offers an Amazon voucher for 70% off? 60% off? 50% off? Where's the cut off point? Remember, we don't moderate scams because of the difficulty in doing so and the problems that arise from it but there needs to be a consensus among Staff about what theads will get removed or they are left be unless there is sufficient proof that they are illegal because all it will do is cause confusion and people will complain about double standards. I have previously only really trashed threads if they explicitly state that they're hacked or cracked etc but it's not going to do any good if there's no consistency and only you or a couple of staff are trashing threads by newbies whilst everyone else's are left alone. I'm all for cleaning this place up and wouldn't be against removing stuff that are almost certainly hacked/cracked/obtained fradulently etc and welcome some dialogue between staff about what should and shouldn't be allowed here but at the moment it isn't going to do any good if you're the only person removing threads by newbies.

This is why you need to join us on IRC.

I have previously only really trashed threads if they explicitly state that they're hacked or cracked etc but it's not going to do any good if there's no consistency and only you or a couple of staff are trashing threads by newbies whilst everyone else's are left alone.
I have only removed those that seemed like they were illegal (e.g. "they're hacked accounts"; "don't change password"). Besides, it is pretty obvious if someone is selling yearly subscriptions for a few dollars. If it was legal, they'd be rich by now.

IMO when someone is selling accounts at a 90% or higher discount than their subscription it is hacked/stolen 99% of the time. I've noticed your reports and will only handle those where it is obvious that they are stolen/hacked until we get a statement on the forums as well. e.g. One of your reports contains a seller selling Brazzer accounts for ~5$; that subscription is worth over $100.

That depends. Do you want to make this forum a nest for hackers and associate Bitcoin with them? If so, then there is no problem at all.

I might have incorrectly expressed myself here (it's still too early for me). If there are indications that the goods are stolen/hacked then I will remove them until there's some official clarification (around here). I have only deleted a very small number of them (most were duplicates by the same seller though).

like i asked in my pms to you, this basicly mean staff will not do anything about it if people start to trade obvious realted CP stuff beacause "no one can determine if it is a scam or illegal somewhere on the globe"? come on guys, thats just a lame excuse. again, 100% of the sellers are not BiPolarBob and while typing this you knew exactly there is a huge difference between him and those offers. Tell people about bitcointalk, let em browse the site and ask them what they think, they will tell you: oh thats the place where you can inform yourself but mostly buy cheap access to paid services sites. and you guys ask yourself why btc and btc related stuff is not taken serious?? there a plenty of place in the web where stuff like this can be traded, but not here.

if you really tell me its hard to decide if a netflix acc for 3$ is legit or not i better dont write what i think about a statement like this..... again i welcome everyone to explain me how this can be legit.

i beg on my knees, please proof me wrong!

i assume staff and administration should talk about this and get a out a clear statement about this. shouldnt be that hard, eh?

No, it really doesn't and comparing child pornography to a hacked or shared account is ridiculous as is complaining that allowing such sales on a mere forum is going to tarnish the entire currency. You can just as easily buy these accounts with Paypal or whatever on other forums but I guess it's down to whether theymos wants the activity here and that's up to him but needs to be clarified.

beacause "no one can determine if it is a scam or illegal somewhere on the globe"? come on guys, thats just a lame excuse.

It has long been the rule that staff do not moderate scams or potential ones so I don't know why this is such a pressing issue for you but I'm more concerned about consistency. If it's deemed that we should remove them then I will but there needs to be consensus about what sort of threads get removed or not and staff all need to be on the same page whether we like the rule or not as we can't have one or two staff members deciding they don't like certain threads and removing the little amount they can whilst others ignore them and go by the existing rules. It just causes more problems and issues otherwise (just look at the threads we've already had in Meta today and the numerous people who have been complaining to me via PMs because they've had their threads removed whilst others haven't).

again, 100% of the sellers are not BiPolarBob and while typing this you knew exactly there is a huge difference between him and those offers.

They might not be bipolarbob but people were complaining his deals were too good to be true and must be illegal but it looks like they weren't so do we trash those type of threads as well or do you just have issue with people selling accounts that are likely hacked or shared ? If so, why? Do we disallow anyone selling various giftcodes with discounts too? A lot might be carded or obtained nefariously but many others won't be but how can we tell? And that's why it's not always black and white and why we generally leave scams alone but if the admins want to change or amend the rules then I'm open to it but all the mods need to follow the rules set out currently as it's going to be messy otherwise.

like i asked in my pms to you, this basicly mean staff will not do anything about it if people start to trade obvious realted CP stuff

1) its i not ridiculous, illeagal stays illegal, paint it blue or red, still illegal. its that simple. Like i said, i am not complaining about illegal activitys going on on darknet webistes or at habbo, i am talking about those happening here. Wrong is wrong, thats always the way it has been.

2) I dont complaining about obvious scams, i do about obvious illegal activitys like selling hacked or carded stuff. If scamming isnt a real problem around here why do we have a section for accusations of it?

3) I have an issue with it because its falling back on this entire community. Just because something wrong is ongoing for a long time its a reson to allow it happen in the future? I have a problem seeing trades ongoing where seller put in hacked, carded and stolen stuff. Your mind would probably change if one of the accounts you own gets sold somewhere online putting you into deep shit. Its not a question of moral its just about wrong and right. Two options: the forum allows illegal stuff and we all dont care or it does not. Why always hiding in the grey area? Its to easy to hide behind the bipolarbob example...

4) Simple questions, try to reply honestly. Try to use just yes or no:

Do you think a 3$ lifetime netflix acc is legal?
Do you think an acc gen granting access to 70 sites is legal?
Do you think selling an item 80% of the regular price is legit?

If i have something here i dont need but i need money urgent, i might sell it off cheap because i am in need. But no one has hundreds off accounts around for the same sites. This cant be legit. Even if you are a reseller. Hiding behind a logic of: yes that might be possible, it has always been that way is just same lame, lazy bullshit excuse.

Well, i say it again: Staff and administration should talk about this and bring a clear statement on it. If the operators of this site decide they are okay with it, i can just stop visiting that sections or just leave the forum. Until its official, i can just try to change it.

Ofc, this is all just imho.

tl;dr might make my point about those points later. Considering you want an official statement from the(an) admin:
(That quote is coming in handy)
As for banning every user for suspicion of doing something illegal , I say (coming up with a nice word to put this->Results not found-> Using passive-aggressive tone) bullcrap. If they openly describe it as being carded or illegal, then their thread should be deleted, a ban is not an answer. The thread I pointed out(earlier), an improvement on the guidelines(the one from theymos) might be better in this case IMO. But as it goes, until you don't create enough drama to get the attention of admins, rules stay as they are.

Hilarious' say on the matter, below BB's post is also something you should take in mind

again i am not talking about scams, i am talking about selling cracked, hacked and carded stuff.

if there is a posting for admins saying something like: "we dont care about people selling stolen stuff on here" i will just not look at the sections again or think about leaving the community. i dont care about the ongoing scams and i am not talking about scams.

Yup, you're not. You're talking about banning someone based on the assumption that he/she broke the service's(unrelated to bitcointalk) TOS. Bannable offense that is , my young padawan /sarcasm
