it feels to me that judgementally most people interested in bitcoins are either from north America or Russia .
is this true?
who is from Asia and Europe?
if we don't have global distribution yet this may be an opportunity.
If some of you have contacts in other continents a "tell a friend" movement could be very helpful!
What are your thoughts?

Then we should see some European sites appearing.
Also, it would be great to
• Establish a European BTC exchange or add EUR into an existing platform
• Add EUR as currency in bitcoinwatch.com
As i am in marketing i cant program anything myself
I have lots of ideas...

The bitcoinexchange.com from Finland does not really fulfill the standards. We need something like mtgox globally or a similar one in other regions

I should have been more specific about the EUR exchange.
the current one seems to be trading very very light volume and there are no charts available.

I don't have any powerful hardware, but I have some cash, so I buy bitcoins until I find something that I'd like to buy with them.

That's exactly my point. THE AVERAGE PERSON WILL NEVER GENERATE BITCOINS. THEREFORE, IF WE WANT TO MAKE BTC WIDESPREAD, WE NEED TO VERY EASILY ENABLE 'JOHN AND MARIA AVERAGE' TO BUY BTC. TO DO THAT WE NEED TO I) BOOST BTC AWARENESS II) COMMUNICATE THE BENEFITS (WHATS IN FOR THEM? IN SIMPLE LANGUAGE) + CREATE ENOUGH ATTRACTIVE OFFERS (I.E. GIVING THEM A TRIAL PROMOTION THE FIRST TIME THEY START IT) III) DRASTICALLY SIMPLIFY THE BTC BUYING PROCESS (possible also including an attractive first buy offer, i.e. 10% price reduction for first 1000 BTC bought). |

More like bitcoinexchange is not an open exchange, where buyers are matched with sellers, and all bids, asks, and trades are published for all to see. That is an open market. I am very happy that bitcoinexchange exists, but I also feel strongly that a much better market is needed for EUR (and Asian) currencies. As another poster pointed out, bitcoin's largest current constituencies seem to be Americans and Russians, with a healthy dose of Europeans. |

I am very happy that bitcoinexchange exists, but I also feel strongly that a much better market is needed for EUR (and Asian) currencies. As another poster pointed out, bitcoin's largest current constituencies seem to be Americans and Russians, with a healthy dose of Europeans.
Nobody is from Japan except Satoshi, or at least as far as I know. |

Asians have a "different" internet. I work with some Chinese people and when they surf they mainly visit china-centric websites and hardly visit the sites that North-Americans or Europeans usually visit. I think this counts for a lot of people in Asian countries.
So there might actually be many Asians using bitcoin, but we will not be knowing. Or there might be no Asians using it, just because they haven't heard about it yet.

More probable that they never heard of it. Still, it's interesting that there are still tremendous barrier between the west and the east as far as cultural exchange goes. |

My opinion is quite another.
Have you noticed that in the US bitcoin common in places other smaller, but with the exception of Russia.
I think the problem here in Russia - remove it from your statistics and the picture would be consistent with the overall prevalence of e-commerce in the world.
