Actualy, getmininginfo IS an estimated global hash rate of the whole  network.

Apologies if I'm wrong, but I thought getmininginfo printed hashespersec which is the same as the result of gethashespersecm which is the rate you are generating hashes at (if you are generating)?

You should update this and put total number of coins to be generated in each description. (:

there is a "more info" section of the list  with links, and diff/block freq/mintage target . not every coin has a hard cap on coins number.

there are some basic requirements to get onto list as acanidate:

- not just a concept, have to be working
- not a testnet, experiment
- decentralized distribution

this coin is clearly stated by dev to be just an experiment, and quickly announced "dead by design" by one of the best ALT developers.
I can add it in "not a coin" paragraph, to remove confusion, with "experimental , just a test" adnotation.

of course, if I get many voices to move it to alive, it will be there. This list has to much influence to be strictly under my command.
I want to be more of a trusted moderator than autonomous architect.

Actually, author already implemented fix for difficulty oscillation problem in the new client.

https://github.com/bfroemel/smallchange/commit/40260037b1108d51416cec0e8e1c457bd42cf9ce

But this project is still positioned as an experiment. Roll Eyes

allways helpful and informed! THANK YOU!

I hope this is an experiment , not a scam.
difference is simple.
experiment:
in case of success, restart the chain. If not, say thank you and leave it.
scam:
"oh! it works just fine, I never ever thought it would, now its no longer an experiment."

Might be worth mentioning here that Feathercoin was mined by a small group of miners to the tune of over 3 million coins (some 50% of current supply) in the first day. Not 'technically' premining but might as well be.

somebody used the term "instamining" and I like it. freicoin has two bad things, one can be corrected , second can't.
1: diff adjustment -  for any new coin it has to be constant geometric. just you wait for resonance or chain halt.
2: way to low starting diff and no pre-announcement, making 1% instamining possible.

I dont like it, but its not so that bad. mincoin on the other hand was created for instamining, not only low starting diff, but also 250 times the reward and no gui-binaries available at start. comparing to mincoin, fethercoin is still kinda ok.

some initial uber-reward is needed to crate heavy supporters, they are the ones that create exchanges, pools, giveouts and other promotions.

Freicoin can be moved to dead coin at this point..

It had good value until cryptonit basically killed it and spit on its name.

Don't be a child. Cryptonit is a damn hobby project and floundering so bad it's just sad. Nail in the coffin for them was throwing out Freicoin for Feathercoin (just for the exchange bounty) and locking people's funds in for 3 days+

It's doing quite well over at BTer.com - which incidentally, just opened its doors for Feathercoin too.

update:

CNC CHNCoin added
FC updated to FTC
BBQ corrected to BQC

I believe with 3 exchanges, 5 pools and current market cap of 15000BTC , FTC is no longer a candidate.
mooved MINOR.

it does seem to be a saturated market.
I think the key is to simply weed out the wannabes and focus on the top dogs..
ie Bitcoin
maybe litecoin

not sure we have room for more than 2 or 3 top dogs..
But, thats JMO.
