For years, hackers have robbed Bitcoin investors, emptying their cryptocurrency wallets without fear of being caught thanks to the relative anonymity of the blockchain. Now, Cisco (CSCO, +0.32%) has exposed the thieves behind a string of particularly flagrant attacks.

All those $50 million hacked and stolen, $30 million hacked and stolen stories since blockchain arrives

Blockchain isn't helping criminals, it's more of criminals abusing and taking advantage of blockchain's anonymity. Hackers and thieves existed since forever.

If it's allowing them the means to take advantage of something then it's helping them. I do understand what you mean however, it's not as if the blockchain has suddenly encouraged many people to start hacking and stealing funds from others.

The answer is No. The FBI testified that the blockchain made it easier for them to track criminals. The darknets are switching to Monero as a result.

But hackers are attracted towards anonymity given by Blockchain.

Breaking news: Cyber criminals has stolen a lot more than that in the past even before bitcoin existed, and even worse: private personal information of people. People stealing money and anything of value isn't new.

I agree. Cyber-criminals really love using Bitcoin because of its anonymity. They find it very easy to use because the only information that can be identified are Bitcoin addresses and not names. And all a criminal has to do is get a new address for every crime they commit. It’s also very easy to mask a computer’s IP address, thus making it nearly impossible to be traced.
