Why "bitcoins" out of all the altneratives (alt,lite,prime)?

Maybe because it was the very first cryptocurrency and also because of its higher value.

Everyone's pretty much said it all, bitcoin is the OG in cryptocurrency.  I might also add that in being the first, it was the first to have a massive price increase, which brought tons of people into it.  As it sustained much of those gains (it's at $390 as I write this), people have stuck with it.  It's the one that always makes the news--when you hear about altcoins on CNN or MSNBC, then you'll know they've arrived.  Til then, they're just wannabees, even if some of them can be very useful.

I still have no idea about other alt coins roaming around the community, so that is why I am using bitcoin, besides, more and more are offering bitcoin in transactions, compared to altcoins..

I don't think so! Many of those coins have great potential and maybe some other purposes.
Internet is large place so we can expect many tokens in future.
Many of them will be on blockchain also.
