I really don't think having a little character signify the decimal point moving is useful for new users (and people that don't want to remember what character means what)

Using the scientific notation makes it easy.

Yeah!  That's just what I was thinking!  Joe Six Pack and Aunt Tellie would never have trouble with scientific notation!

"The powers of financial capitalism had another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent meetings and conferences. The apex of the systems was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world's central banks which were themselves private corporations. Each central bank...sought to dominate its government by its ability to control Treasury loans, to manipulate foreign exchanges, to influence the level of economic activity in the country, and to influence cooperative politicians by subsequent economic rewards in the business world."

- Carroll Quigley, CFR member, mentor to Bill Clinton, from 'Tragedy And Hope'

Just before I read your post, an answer, of sorts, came to me. When Bitcoin goes mainstream, a common user(s) will come up with some catchy name(s), one we wouldn't have thought of on our own, and it'll be hip to use it. Fare warning: If it happens to be Justin Bieber coining the name, I will be the first to say I told you so (in reference to that JB thread I started many moons ago).

For instance:

JB Fan 1: How many Biebs you have, Timmy?
JB Fan 2: More than you, FuckFace.
JB Fan 3: My dad has over a hundred Gagas.

And each speaker will be able to equate that worth in their minds, for it's something they can relate to.
