yes mate i heard that too, here in my country since btc is not that popular yet those drug dealer taking the advantage of it, but suddenly they been caught by our local police because the transaction that they made has been trace using the local exchange.

Definitely it would be change, and our government are very strict now and in my country as well, we are already required to comply by putting our personal information in our accounts for KYC purposes and you cannot transact if you will not comply.

Dealers using exchanges to convert or mix their coins aren't that smart as exchanges keep every IP and transaction log for ever.

All this information can be used against you, and linked to you in case you have verified your ID in order to make use of that specific exchange.

There are plenty of ways to get your coins converted back and forth without using exchanges, but probably they weren't aware of it. Dumb people.

Majority of the member in this industry I know they used their bitcoin for legal purposes including myself of course. Even others are doing something which is not good whether they used it for illegal matters it is their free will to decide what there gonna do to their bitcoin.

BItcoin is a tool and can be used both ways, legal or illegal. Just like a gun, it can be used to protect people and can also be used to kill people. The government should not ban bitcoin because it is being used illegally. What they should do is to provide laws that will prevent people using bitcoin for bad things without compromising the good things bitcoin can do.

Since it is still good as fiat,it depends on holder whether he sued it for good or for illegal.

No. We've heard this thing a lot of times on the news channels but it's not true. It is used for illegal activities just like USD and EUR is being used. It's not such a big difference between the two, except the fact that people would obviously prefer doing these kinds of transactions through anonymous methods than through cash.

I disagree a little bit it’s not the same the amount of trades related to criminal activity is very low compared to the amount of deals done in fiat and the corruption that goes along with it.

You mean there are more illegal activities with bitcoins than USD and others ? If so you are wrong friend, because see bitcoins first of all I hope and believe not known to illegal and wrong people. While with USD almost 90% of the world is aware and hence obviously more crime and illegal will happen with USD than with BTC.

It is a shame that is it is being used for these things, but it is the responsibility of the users to help stop this when we can.  There is no government control over bitcoin and if we can police ourselves, then there would be no need to a government agency to step in and try to control it.  It is difficult to stop at this time, but it is being done and not giving Bitcoin a good name.

Yes every currency can be used for illegal activities. but fiat currency that will not have adverse impact if used as an illegal activity, because everyone is still using and need it. While bitcoin is only digital money with trust of its users, so that if used as an illegal activity, then having a bad impact. bitcoin can lose the confidence of investors.

Sure bitcoin is being used for illegal activities, as long as it is a currency. But I don't think it will ever be prohibited by governments. Illegal activities are not about bitcoin, it's just a simple rule: where there is money, there will always be something illegal and vice versa.

if more and more people will adopt bitcoin in the coming years, then the amount of people using bitcoin for illegal things will also increase. it's not that the number of people using bitcoin for whatever illegal things will decrease with more adoption. it doesn't make any sense.

Yes, bitcoin is being used in different illegal activities like buying drugs and selling drugs. Last year there was a site called "Silk road" where they were selling different kinds of drugs and other illegal stuffs like guns and so on. Currencies are also being used in different illegal activities because there are no payment that can be made other than these, it's either cryptocurrencies or currencies, these two are the only options because in this world there are no such thing like "100% off". There might be a discount but just a little you are still going to pay though.

Every fiat currency or crypto currency was already and are still used to illegal activities, and yes, the media is a joke, they try to said "bitcoin is encouraging people to do ilegal activities" and this kind of media always will give bad reputation to bitcoin.
