To all the newcomers and new stakeholders of Qora who wish to learn what the recent fuss is all about, here is a quick rundown! 

Qora is about have its very own Decentralized Bitcoin Exchange, World's First!!    The decentralized Bitcoin Exchange will be based on CIYAM's implemention of ACCT (Atomic Cross-Chain Transfer) and AT technology (Automated Transaction) that was incorporated into Qora's core earlier last year.

In a nutshell, you can think of AT technology as a "processor" sitting in Qora's core that is capable of interpreting and executing machine language-like instructions in the Qora BlockChain.  The possibilities are definitely endless with Automated Transaction: For instance, you can create a Shapeshift-like Crypto exchanger that is fully automated and decentralized, or a bot that will automatically pay out dividends without human intervention... and of course, the holy grail of all Cryptos: a decentralized Bitcoin Exchange based on ACCT!

Following is a short history of Qora Automated Transaction and World's First "Atomic Cross-Chain Transfer":

1. Automated Transaction (or AT for short) was incorporated into Qora's core by one of CIYAM devs, vbcs, last year. Since then, a few "use cases" have been developed by the devs: Qora/Burst decentralized exchange and the infinite loop! 

2. The very first ACCT had already been conducted between Qora and BURST some time last year.  Now, you can access the Qora Decentralized Exchange (only available for BURST/QORA for now) by going to the ACCT tab in the Qora client.

3. Ian had a major breakthrough earlier this year: as announced on his page, a Bitcoin ACCT (using CLTV) was successfully conducted earlier this year, and a "trade package" was successfully completed on March 18th.

As CIYAM has just said, we'll probably see a release by mid-year.    Also wanna take this opportunity to congratulate CIYAM team for the technological breakthrough and to my knowledge, the very first implementation of Bitcoin ACCT.  Great job!

This may very well be why we saw a price spike. Unfortunately, it is apparent that CIYAM's implementation is very complicated for the non-technical type. It does, however, appeal to a lot of crypto-users and has tremendous potential if simplified. I really hope we see further improvements and adoption. Imagine a Shapeshift that is not centralized.

Unfortunately although we have already created (and tested) an ACCT Bitcoin script that uses CLTV the UI side of things is what really takes quite a bit of time and we don't think that releasing an unfriendly and mostly manual implementation would be appealing to virtually anyone so the work to develop decent UI (for the Bitcoin side of things) and to improve the UI on the Qora side of things will take some time.

That being said I do think we should be able to end up with something that is user friendly and that will be very robust (an estimate at this stage is a little hard but I would certainly think that you could expect to see a release by mid-year with this functionality).

Very Sorry if I ruined your plan!    I just wished Qora and CIYAM to have the recognition they both deserved, and I found it rather perplexing how little publicity and attention the Bitcoin ACCT breakthrough received. That's all.  

Correct me if I am wrong.. Was I correct in stating that CIYAM's implementation of Bitcoin ACCT will lead to the world's very first truly automated and server-independent decentralized Bitcoin Exchange?

MGW and InstantDex are definitely NOT true decentralized exchanges, because they are merely a layer above the asset exchange and rely on 3rd-party servers (Qora already had an asset exchange ages ago)..  As far as I'm aware, Ethereum does not have a BTC decentralized exchange yet although it was rumored that one was in the works.

To my knowledge, ACCT (Atomic Cross-Chain Transfer) is the only known way to achieve real decentralized exchange of Bitcoin and Crypto.. and CYAM's implementation is the only one in existence...

I made a withdrawal from them over 7 months ago which hasn't gone through yet, and every time I ask them about it I get pretty much the same generic "sorry the wallet is not working that good right now"-answer. It seems like they refuse to tell me any more about it.

Always thought they were pretty shady, but now I can upgrade that opinion to flat out scammer scum.  Glad I only had a small amount of Qora on there and did most of my trading elsewhere.  I'm assuming anything we had on there is essentially lost since withdrawing never worked anyway and you can't sell if it's been delisted.

Just dumped every other coin I had on there and requested withdrawal for the small amount of BTC it amounted to (which, knowing them, I probably won't receive anyway).  Never using them again.

As one of the first persons who reported problems with BTER, I'll give you guys a short history of what happened:

Roughly 12 months ago, right after the last BTER hack in which they claimed to lose over 7000 Bitcoins , BTER instituted a policy that limited how much cryptos you were allowed to withdraw on a daily basis.  That's when some of us Qora members noticed a huge problem: BTER actually did NOT have enough qora in their wallet to cover all the Sell Bids in their order book.  There were over 1 billion qora listed on BTER, but their wallet only had less than 3% of qora supply.  Feeling alarmed and suspicious, all of us started urging people to withdraw all their qora from BTER.

And guess what?    Right after most people got their qora out, BTER suddenly reported their wallet was experiencing problem... lol...  That was over 10 - 11 months ago!    So all of the people who had coins stuck in BTER started bombarding them with support tickets, but all they've been getting was the generic reply "the problem will be fixed shortly... blah.. blah.. etc"...

Since then, both Vrontis and Skerberus have contacted them and offered to help lots and lots of time, but the BTER thieves simply refused to cooperate and just ignored qora devs' message.

So after that, both me and Tuck Fheman have been reposting our warning messages every few months, warning people not to trade on BTER.  It was our conclusion that BTER had been running fractional reserve for over a year, and they NEVER really had the ability to pay all of the investors back.

So, I am really sorry to see those of you who had lost money on BTER, but as you can see, we had really done our best to warn you.  Searching through qora's messages archives, you should notice lots of warning messages from qora members. So I think the best thing to do now is to just let BTER die by withdrawing all of your Crypto from that site.  And if you live in China, you can probably fight them in court.

For those of you who are tired of the generic, Java Swing GUI, there is a good news!

In the next two versions (most likely in the version after the upcoming 0.26 release), a brand new "web-based GUI" (user interface) will be introduced to the qora community, and the old, generic Java Swing GUI will gradually be phased out in favor of the new GUI.  The new web-based GUI has numerous advantages: being lightweight, new interface templates can be easily created/maintained/modified, and of course, better looking! 

For those of you who haven't seen it, here are two screenshots of the new user interface that was created by Skerberus, and is currently in development:

My understanding is that the old, generic Swing-based GUI will be slowly phased out, or simply be used as a backup in the future release.  Currently, all the web pages hosted inside the Qora client are accessible via the "Decentralized web server" button (File -> Decentralized Web Server).   What the "decentralized web server" does is to launch your browser and let you access the pages hosted inside the Qora client running on your local computer.  It is decentralized and safe because all the information (blog.. message.. etc) is pull in from the Qora BlockChain, and no 3rd-party server is accessed.   So everything is anonymous and you cannot be tracked.  

To be more specific, Qora Client includes a built-in web server (Jetty web server) that serves all pages includes in the storage.  And the good news is:  any developer or individual who wishes to create custom web-based interface (or just about any page) can do so easily by including their html files in the server storage space.

To all prospective developers or web designers who wish to build custom web-based wallets or custom software applications on the Qora Platform:

Qora is a versatile and stable platform that offers a full suite of JSON API that are accessible via standard HTTP REST calls such as this one: http://127.0.0.1:9085/qora/status (For checking Qora Client's status)..  All of Qora's functionalities (including Arbitrary Message and Automated Transaction) are exposed by the JSON API and accessible via standard HTTP calls, and can be used by any web designer or software developer to create custom wallet interface or custom applications on top of Qora Platform.

1. A web designer or any individual who wishes to develop custom wallet interface for Qora can simply include the wallet html files in the Qora web storage (located under Qora/Web), and then compile the wallet.  As mentioned in my previous post, the old generic Swing GUI will be gradually phased out in favor of the new Web-based GUI.  So it's recommended that anyone who is interested in developing a custom wallet ditch the Swing interface and go for web-based interface instead.
