Had a windows internet scam call 12 times today. Followed by a collection agency looking for some one with the same last name. Followed by a guy from India trying to refinance my mortgage. These yahoos call daily.
Tactics for dealing with them that do not include blocking?
Soon the furnace cleaners will join in as well.

Do they have a Do Not Call Registry where you are located? This gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls. You can register your phone numbers for free.

Ask the stranger he knows who you really are.

They get around these by calling outside of the country or masking the number. Actually heard you get more calls being on that list.

I always tell these people to hold a few moments while I get a pen and paper and just leave the phone on the side.

Love to waste there time.

Ever wondered how these people got your number or email?
You might have subitted a form online that asks for your details..
They collect the numbers from such sites and pay themfor giving your details to them... Heard it over the internet...

Well one telemarketer or debt collector thinks because my name is the same as some guy that owes on his cable bill he can spam me every day with 3-4 calls. It happens every 3 months, the guy they are looking for goes awol and they hit every one in the phone book with a similar name. Used to call these people back but they give you attitude or hang up after saying a cold thank you.

The windows virus guy I let ring as well. Do not want a bored Indian spamming me with phone calls in the middle of the night and this has been known to happen to people.

Think a lot of the local telemarketers program the phone book into a automatic dial up. Often we get a call with 2 rings, hang up and call back same number with a recording or air. The likes of roof cleaners, gutters, furnace repair and even mortgage help.

They call with so many different numbers blocking them would add up quick. I can block 10 and I got a mental dude that called non stop in one of the blocks. Cheesy

I don't know why people even use home phones anymore, just unplug the damn things and use only your mobile where they can't get at you and only friends of family can call, the reason telemarketers call home phones is because they know a lot of therm don't have block functions and so on.
