Hey guys. Probably was the time I make an informative thread already. This thread is basically for anyone who is just getting into Bitcoin and is trying to choose a wallet or maybe for a Bitcoin veteran who is now looking for a second wallet.

Some of the more popular wallets:

These are just some of the more popular offline wallets and as you can see, most if not all are featured on the official Bitcoin site (bitcoin.org):

These are just some of the MANY online wallets. These are probably the most trusted ones overall. I personally use Blockchain as it's the best one for me. You can try some of the other ones and see which one YOU like the best.

You can also buy Bitcoin with your credit card or bank account on the following online wallets (just the ones I already talked about):

These are only the wallets that are featured on bitcoin.org. There are many more mobile wallets and you can find them by searching "Bitcoin" or "Bitcoin wallet" in your App store, Google Play and anything that Windows and BlackBerry phones use. I personally use the Blockchain wallet on my iPhone 5s and I've had no problems so far.

There are many hardware wallets Trezor, Ledger, KeepKey and few others which can be found with a simple google, btw i found this link in wiki: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Hardware_wallet

Offline means no internet, not "no webpage"! All these can run offline, but they are not by default and you need a dedicated offline computer for this.

i can see that there are a lot of great wallets though blockchain.info is the best in my opinion

Its one of the worst wallet services in bitcoin history with the most critical issues. Its a wonder people are still using them and I can only think its because of the name.

I understand what you're saying. But the statement is technically correct.

No its not. If you downloading any of the wallets listed in the "offline" section they will instantly try to access something on the internet, be that a dnsseed for core or an electrum server for electrum. Call them "local" or at the very least explain what you mean when you say "offline", because I can assure you its not what people would commonly expect when they read "offline". They will think "paper wallet" and not "potentially offline". With your idea of "offline" all "mobile" wallets are "offline" wallets, because they can potentially run on a phone without SIM and WLAN. Bither even has a cold mode, that forces the phone offline when opening the wallet.

They just copied most of them from here -> https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

Its very unlikely that any of them comes with a virus.

I'm sorry but I think you have been confused with the term "cold-storage",offline wallets, and "web" wallets. A majority of the wallets you listed as offline are actually connected to the internet "hence" they make a connection across your internet connection so you are connected online. Just a clarification, if you download any of those wallets you stated that are "offline", people will have a misconception they are not connected to the internet and virtually safe when in essence, they are not.

Lastly, Armory is no longer hosted on bitcoinarmory.com. That site is dead. There is no site for it as an official one has not yet been set up. The release downloads are currently being hosted on github at https://github.com/goatpig/BitcoinArmory/releases.

I second what these guys said about adding hardware wallets to your list.  I have a Ledger nano hardware wallet that I use as all the time.  I love the thing.  The funny thing is that I used bitcoin for a long time before ever buying it.  I can't believe it took me so long to buy one.  If I was getting into bitcoin for the first time again, I would buy a ledger right away.  They are only $15 to $30 and they work great.
