Hi,
Sorry if this isn't the right board, couldn't quite decide where to put it.
I'm interested in buying the R4 (new batch tomorrow 07:00GMT) but I'm wondering if there is a way to not pay 20% VAT + import taxes ?

There are no import taxes, just VAT and maybe a handling charge from the carrier. As for not paying the VAT, thats down to luck. Or host it outside the EU in the US/China/Canada etc. |

If u buying inside EU from an another EU country you can avoid VAT with EU vat number registered company. However if you buy from non-eu country you have to pay VAT and in some countries tax as well.

When you import to EU for personal usage then you can't avoid to pay VAT. When you import for business you can deduct VAT later. This is only way how you can avoid it to my undrestanding. |

Living in the UK everything I buy from overseas gets stung with duty,vat and carrier charges for sorting the paperwork. The only way ive found to limit the "hit" I take on buying gear is to get it from another member on here and ask them to declare it at a lower value. The risk is big if it gets lost or damaged as the agreement is that I still pay them anyway. But thankfully ive been lucky and no gear has been damaged in transit. Hopefully ill still be lucky

tbh with the average electricity costs in the EU you are better off finding a hosting partner in the US or Canada and getting the units delivered there.
Not VAT or import duty and lower overheads.

A way to bypass VAT is to buy as a company. You'll have to declare your revenues, but since you should in theory already been doing it, that shouldn't pose any problem !

A way to bypass VAT is to buy as a company. You'll have to declare your revenues, but since you should in theory already been doing it, that shouldn't pose any problem !
You still have to pay VAT as a company importing from a non UK or EU company. You can just claim it back at the end of the quarter against your VAT sales. But remember running a company has other overheads and taxes that you would need to take into account. |

You would not pay VAT if the goods are declared as GIFT from import.
GIFT requires 1 unit, any more and it will not be seen as a gift.

My advice is just either to pay VAT or find a local seller who is interested in doing a P2P trade. Doing anything else could classify as tax evasion, which can be punished harshly for.

Or don't ship them to Europe, no VAT or taxes if hosting in China or US and electricity/maintenance costs are way lower. |

A gift has to be under £30 otherwise it's goods which are liable for vat and duties. |

+1 Electricity bills will kill you. It's over 2x cheaper in the US. The only good side of having it in the EU are those government issued eco grants, that you can use to get your own solar panels/ wind turbine. |

Well for me it's not only about the hashrate, I recycle the heat inside my appartment for the winter and use the noise to piss off my neighbours  The only solution I may have found for now is with a friend who owns a companny to import it through here, but thanks for your inputs anyways.
