For the time being, I mine Ethereum, but the profitability is dropping fast. So I will not expand my farm.

Even though the Ethereum price is dropping, it is still very profitable to mine. I will keep on mining until the price is $6.

That is right. It is mainly due to the fast rising difficulty levels and the steep dropping prices at present.

After ethereum goes pos is there going to be enough profit mining decred, feathercoin, expanse, digabyte and spreadcoin to warrant setting up a small 6 card rig?

If I go with 980s I can sell them next year to my friend that builds discounted gaming rigs and sells them at his shop.

I have been on the fence about this for a while.

Ether, decred, and digibyte.

There are some others but ether is the most valuable one to mine, it has a very large market cap but tons of miners.
Decred has the black hole effect going on but is still profitable altho you will make less than ether and the market cap is small so it can be easily affected by dumps.
Digibytes isn't new but the last month has quite a bit of activity on the markets, 5 different algos to mine and has some potential IF they can start trading stronger in the future.

Ether is the only coin that can handle a large amount of miners and not have earnings vanish so quickly like the others...so if ether crumbles it is likely that the profit on the others will vanish as mining appear on those coins.

There were many fruit coins in the past. I mined the limecoin myself. Those are scam coins at least.

I remember that. I mined several of them, apple, orange and others. I sold all of them and made small loss.

So far, the best coin to mine is the Ethereum, Decred and the X11 coins. They are all quite proftable for us.

The mining profitability of Ethereum has dropped dramatically, that is the result of price drop and difficulty rise.

The difficulty of Ethereum rose 35% in the last month. if the trend continues, there will be no profit there.

The Etherum mining difficulty is still rising fast. It will not be profitable for me in the next two months.

but it's still profitable now, in the next months you can use the new gpu and make it again profitable, so there is will be always profit, just be clever in mining

It depends on your electricity prices. If you have to pay $0.3 /kWh, it will be no profitable if the difficulty triple.

The Ethereum difficulty is all time high again. So it is not profitable for somebody pay $0.3 per kWh.

is still profitable for me with 0.2 and a bit above, so it's very profitable again, the price rised again so if the price keep rising in thefuture it may be always profitable

Right after the Sun goes nova and fries the Earth?

(Presuming human civilization lasts that long)

Current-style Ethereum mining profitability will go to ZERO when it moves to PoS - and most folks don't consider PoS to be mining anyway, it's more "earning interest".
