I've been running a poll for some time now about the value of 1 bitcoin by 2020 and it's safe to say a lot of different opinions and guesses are made.
This poll completes the other one and i'm really looking forward to everyone's input in this.

Tnx for your input  Cool

well up to 5% and not more, people thinks that everyone will know about bitcoin but sad truth that lots of people either don't know what bitcoin is, or are afraid to start using it because of how bitcoin isn't stable, this will take time, more stable bitcoin will be - more people will use bitcoin so maybe after 10more years, 10% will use it
I expect 5 to 10% people will use bitcoin in 2020 and 15 to 20% will use it in another 10 years, this is because proper awareness about bitcoin is not given to most of the countries.

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

My guess would be 0-2% because there are a lot of people with no personal computers or Internet or even electricity most of the day in other parts of the world  and not all of the people in well developed countries are interested in Bitcoin even if they have the equipment and the means to get involved with it. If we compare this forum's population to the global population we will get probably a very small number anyways.

I think 4 years will not have much influence on bitcoin users. probably will only get 1 million or 2 million users.
will not be too many people for only 4 years

Yeah 4 years is really not enough for bitcoin to have more users joining it,if big companies from all over the world adapt bitcoin then we will see a sudden jump in bitcoin users.

not much in 2020.
it looks like around 2030, bitcoin users will be much more than now.
but we all don't know what the future will be like.

There's no way that in 4 years a lot of people will have bitcoin.  Probably less than 1% have any now and it won't be much greater in 4 years.
i thnk its still possible for bitcoin to be mor and more adopted by people in 4 years, after open bazaar and bitcoin halving,i'm sure bitcoin have better future, and i'm sure in 4 years is enough for bitcoin to reach 4% or 5% percentage.
today we are in the age of 7 years and we've won quite a lot. high prices and a large enough user. possible range of 10 million people.
I agree with you 4 years is not going to change a lot of things for bitcoin users. so may increase the half of total users now
may only increase by 5 million people for 4 years

That million could be a lot of change in a year. I dont think it is that easy to get that high number due to the fact that there are something out there that stops the rise of bitcoin and being advertised.

I do not even know on what percentage it is right know. But I believe it would not be more then 15 percent. You will have to count many people out like children people with out internet.

i think a lot of people will adopt bitcoin in the future and a lot of countries will have it as a national currency that they will use for everyday items and companies will accept it too

so i would guess that at least 80 per cent of people will have at least a small amount of bitcoins as a lot of people will also want to just try it out, but surely it wont be 100 per cent
National mean, a thing of nation’s own, so a nation will accept a thing as their national only if they relate to their nation only, so bitcoin will not be ever adopted as a national currency by any country, but it is a possibility that countries choose different crypto currencies for their nation or they may design their own.

Well most probably in third world countries, you have to count them out, but with todays fast development of technology, by 2020 ISP's prices would be a lot lower as there will be new competitors that will show up...But still, we cannot speculate that everyone of those with internet connection would be using bitcoin..

maybe the percentage will be between 2:5% and even reaching this percent is not as easy as it looks. I do not know if there is a possible way to know how many people are using bitcoin right now. but reaching 140 million users after 4 years only needs more promoting for bitcoin and need more investments and projects to start

I do not think we will reach 140 million users by 2020. We may reach 10 million during that period.

we are at 3M currently 10M seems too low for 4 years time frame, if it keep this rate we won't see big aodption ever
10 million is not too much for the next 4 years as now the rate of its adoption is increased much more and it require only a few companies online to adopt for their payment after that the adoption rate will increase much faster.

It will not be that high I think that it will not even reach 10%. This is because you will have to count many people out when you talk about the whole world. Like people without internet or even kids.

It depends the price of bitcoins imo. If the bitcoin's price so high, i'm sure on that years more people will own bitcoins. But if the price not so high, like only $50, only few people will own bitcoin.

the price of bitcoin will play an important role but that is not all of it.
i agree that if the price is high it will gain a lot of attention but the number of people who will "use" bitcoin should be because of the benefits of using bitcoin like the fast and cheap transactions.

Yeah, price matters when we think about the people using bitcoin by 2020. Bitcoin has got the potential to go high than moving down towards the fall. I believe even if price goes down users completely depending upon bitcoin will make alternate solution.

I do not think so. The adoption of the bitcoin will be very slow in the initial stage. It might be 2-5% by then.

If 10 million people know about bitcoin and use it 12 times a year, the bitcoin price will be many thousands.

Depends if they buy coffee or buy cars with it.   Not just frequency but I imagine if people do use bitcoin for things like coffee it will be more then 12 times on the same basis of pennies in your pocket, use them or lose em.    The main thing here to me is convenience, its why the card people (visa etc I guess) are so in favour of that touchless technology.    I dont even want it as it seems a liability to me for security but they want you to use their card and these guys arent stupid, its convenience and ease of use.

Can bitcoin easily compete with billion dollar budgets going into normal banking technology, we will see this blockchain system fail if it becomes any kind of hassle for normal people to use.   It cant be elitist cryptographic perfection alone if you want mainstream, its got to be easy and also everything thats good about bitcoin.  No simple task, ironically :p
