Hey everyone,

I have been wondering for the past weeks how great it would be to try and create my own physical Bitcoin.
While drawing or designing things is definetly not one of my talents, I have come up with a sketch and would like to ask if you can give me a honest opinion about what you think about the design.

Please note that these sketches are still in a very early phase, many thanks for helping me out with a vote if you are willing to!  Smiley

1) The Coin

The coin's base design is based on the Casascius coins, I did of course tweak it a bit to give it somewhat of an unique appearence.

The (downward/toppled) pyramid in the middle signifies the world's economic hierarchy where governments and banks are mainly in control, Bitcoin has the potential to topple the pyramid as shown on the coin by giving the people more control over their own money.

The Latin text "Unus pro Omnibus" stands for "One for All" which refers to Bitcoins potential as a global currency. (as far as my Latin goes, please correct me if I am wrong  Cheesy)

2) Hologram

The sketch I made for the hologram is still in a very early phase and could be changed entirely.
Depending on the poll's result I will work on making a 2D Hologram design for the coin.

3) Mintage

Depending on the poll results the coins will or will not be minted.
If the results are positive the coins are minted as 1 TROY OZ .999 Fine Silver coins and come in a Gold plated version aswell.

The  total amount of each type of coins being minted is 250 for now, depending on interest this could be changed if necessary.

I like it.  250 may be a little hard to sell initially.  Perhaps 100 minted might make it easier for you, even though the price per unit will be higher.  Very Casascius-like.  The holo could use more detail with microprinting around the edge.

Depending on whether you live in the US, you wont want to pre-fund these due to US laws.  Buyer Funded / Unfunded is easier to deal with.

I'd be interested in these.

Interesting concept. This depends on the price of the coin. What were you aiming at? I'd buy the #1.  Grin

I concur.

I concur.

100 minted of each would be fine, prices are hard to guess at this point since I have only asked a few minting companies for quotes so far.

I would say about $60 for the Silver ones and $70 for the Gold Plated ones, perhaps cheaper or a bit more expensive depending on the exact costs when I am at a later phase.

If you are making reservations, please reserve one of each for me, with the lowest number available.

Take care when dealing with gold plating.  There have been some issues recently when the mint did imperfect work to plate them.  Both ognasty and gravitate recently had to work with their respective mints regarding plating.

Will keep that in mind.
I am not offering reservations/pre-orders (yet), as I will decide in the upcoming days to go on with getting the designs finalized and minted or not depending on the poll results Smiley

I'd do 50-60$ for the Silver ones. I'm not sure if I'd like the Gold plated ones, but I'd have to see one first.

I asked first, so I get the lowest number if this ever goes into production!  Grin

I think it'll be a tough sell....but I'd probably buy one.  As a comparison, I think Smoothie's coin are great.  I've showed about 10 people a Lealana silver/gold versus a Casascius and (without leading anyone) hands down the Lealana is better liked.

I can't believe Smoothie only minted 500 of the silver/gold and still has plenty left.  I think that shows the size of the market you are trying to enter.  You can probably guess half your buyers before you even get started with the project...  Smiley

I love it when new physical cryptos are released, especially nice looking ones at affordable prices. However, this coin is just not to my liking.
I think the design needs to be revamped quite a bit. Personally I'd go for something very simple or quite detailed. I think that the triangle takes away from the coin's symmetry and just doesn't fit too well with the BTC logo.

I can be interested about this coin, but it will depend on final design , material of the coin and price. There are lot of coins that i want to buy and i have no money for all, i suppose that more users have the same problem. Look other coins thread before deciding how many coins you will mint, i think that 250 is a very large amount.

Exactly my thoughts when I saw the design of the coin. Honestly, a bad mockup of the casascius design. That triangle shaped thing makes the whole coin "unorganized" and weird. The backside is too simple. In my opinion - either leave it blank or add some more design elements to it. The rounded bitcoin within the logo text looks weird too. The bitcoin sign should be in the middle (especially on the hologram) as it is more recognizable than the other letters.

Something looks good when it's: Simple, but geometrically organized. (If you know what I mean) or a complicated artwork. This coin is aimed to look simple, but there is no recognizable geometrical system.

Sorry for being like a math teacher.

Thanks pal, this is the exact reason why I started the poll. To get some good opinions based on experience and knowledge.
As I mention in the poll I am very unexperienced in this so I am glad you took the time to give me this constructive feedback, these are the things that help me out the most in the end Smiley

Looks great!

Agree with the population, 250 troy oz of silver is hard to move, 100 or even 50 seams to be a better volume.

If you need some creative input with the hologram, then could bigtimespaghetti's be an option:

Great point.  For anyone looking to make a new coin, I would recommend reading his guide.

I would be very interested in this, even more so in the gold plated one.  I assume they would come unfunded as well?   250 does seem a bit high for your first batch though.
