If you don't mind me asking, what is "illegal journalism" in India supposed to be (European or otherwise)? Are you referring to some form of misinformation being spread? Or, perhaps: investigative journalism; journalists that depend on sources engaged in illegal activity; reports on corruption, poverty, slavery, and other forms of social evils?

I ask this because, depending on the circumstances, it's not usually a good sign that journalism starts being described as illegal.

journalism starts being described as illegal.

This might be "working with no labor permit", "entering in the country with fake visa declaration about purpose of the visit", "work without accreditation"--

Journalist visas

Journalists accredited press and newspapers could get a journalist visa.
Their application must be accompanied by letters from their employers, provide detailed trip.
As a rule, they have to wait for confirmation from the Indian authorities concerned.
Journalists traveling on tour to cover events or make documentary films must fill out additional forms giving details of the documentary film, script, equipment list.
