i had the same problem as described, in Windows:
"Wallet is stuck showing I'm X hours behind. I've added all the nodes from the PDF (many are dead and just timeout by the way). It shows I've got 15 active connections but the newer blocks aren't being downloaded I guess?"

For now i am keeping my funds at the exchange because I am unable to sync the wallet

Last night, the difficulty on Belacoin spiked from the usual 1,000 range to 5,167. This is likely because for a moment, Belacoin became the most profitable altcoin to mine, so a large mining pool that searches for the most profitable coin to mine likely hooked up to Belacoin, causing the absurd spike in difficulty.

Once the next block is found, syncing and transactions should go through.

maybe few weeks/months after full release , i dont think so for open beta (but you never know!)

IMO belacoin price will live and die by the user base of belacam. The user base will depend on the quality, polish, uniqueness, interface of belacam app and site.

Even without the crypto angle I am hoping people will be interested. I really had hoped a smartphone app was going to launch in open beta but we will have to wait for full release. People seem to like apps on phone rather than using browser maybe for the sharing integration and notifications? dont know

Will BelaCam have things like friends and invites and privacy settings?

And will it have censorship? I am thinking it could be popular for amateur porn people to monetize their work? users could have a profile that was only viewable after sending them a dollar or something. Or would this be bad and cheapen BelaCam?

We agree that Belacam as an app would be best. However, the purpose of open beta testing isn't to be using a completed and finished product. We would love to have Belacam iOS and Android apps for the full final release. Development of the Belacam app should begin in May or June.

In Belacam, users can follow each other rather than "friend" each other. If private profiles are not ready by open testing, they will likely be rolled out during open testing. We will be adding additional features during open testing like sidebar content.

We will likely censor pornographic images during open testing because there are many legal restrictions that begin to appear when we allow that kind of content. Before we can allow it, we will seek legal counseling on how to go about that in the best way possible if we do choose to eventually allow it. Maybe private profiles will be allowed to share pornographic content while others cannot.

I really like what you are doing here - I think Belacam could be a big hit and so far the design is looking really clean. I start buying BELA ~ 0.000017 and am buying some more today at 0.000052 because I think this will be big. I have 1 major concern though, which is really a problem for all crpyto currencies and that is the following scenario..

Say my brother wants to jump on the site. He's got a lot of followers on Insta and I think he'd really like this. How does he go about getting BELA or turning BELA into cash? I'm assuming this is going to be a big hurdle.

Let me know what you guys are working on in regards to the issue of non-crpyto people having an impossible time getting their hands on any alternate coins (nevertheless bitcoin).

Well I think from the test screen shots you sent the site looks really simple, which is a good thing. Simple is good. The 1:1 ratio is a great call too. I think expanding it to .25, .5, 1, 2, 5 kind of thing would be fine once there are users but like you said - keep it simple to start.

The mass public/crypto thing is going to be the killer. It's the same problem so many alt coin projects face which is that people (most people at least) aren't going to jump through the complicated hoops that it takes to get from cash to bitcoin to bela and back to cash again.

You ever seen the Vericoin wallet. They used to have some way to buy direct VRC from their wallet. I don't know how exactly it worked but I think it had to do with them using their own stash to basically be a mini exchange. Probably not a real long term solution - but it was a cool idea. Might be worth checking it out.

We will add the Bellachess link to the Belacoin.org website. The Windows Wallet does get flagged upon download if you have certain antivirus software, but it does not contain a virus. Most users just click "Ignore" when that pops up to bypass the warning. The wallet is safe.
