There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Had one (or more) of the modules broken loose inside?

Today I turned it on:

It works great but seems one module is broken, the other 2's heats and works flawlessly.. the bad one is colder. I'm not getting the average 65Gh/s of a standard Avalon. This is very frustrating  Cry

I believe my unit was damaged during freight or even at customs, but considering the unusual scratches and dust inside of a the unit.. there is no doubt this is a used before item.
On the other hand, the parcel was amazingly well wrapped and sealed.. thick foam packing bars on every corner + full of airy sheets inside & outside of the containing box.. Really, I can't imagine what kind of scenario it had to go through to end like this.
Some might blame EMS others might accuse Avalon Team, but I'm the true victim here. Receiving a used unit never was part of the pre-order conditions (correct me if I'm wrong).

Does the Avalon warranty applies here? please share your thoughts.

You managed to get all the modules aligned again and no broken parts? Just dents?

Go over all the cables, sometimes due to transport, one gets loose. Should be easy to to unhook each and reseat it.

By the way, can you tell us what the sticker with your serial and model number says? Is it AV1-3 or do you have
a different generation? [oh wait, I just noticed your picture http://postimg.org/image/cbp48qp69/ that lists AV1-3]

I see you have  a Fan1 speed and the first generation of machines does not have this:

Actually you need 5 cm or more padding in order to comply to shipping standards, the Avalon boxes should have more padding. UPS will not insure this kind of box, unfortunately. And they know why....

Try checking the connectors first, make a few pictures before and after to spot any damage. If that does not work, you can open a ticket at Avalon

But in the state your machine arrived, you should be able to get replacement modules for those that do not work

Dude,

There are reports that the module could work with some of sub modules removed. If the whole module is cold it probably means that there is a problem with power cable. If i remember the cable was damaged according to your pictures. Take a multimeter and make sure that power power cable is ok. The second thing to check is to disassemble the module and see if hash power PCB is damaged (the board with connectors where asic are plugged). If above two are ok, you can test all 8 modules separately this is presumption.
About the warranty that shall be commented by Avalon but i think it shall be replaced and it will take time for sure.
If all of the above fails we badly need 10 Asics for Klondike project
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=190731.0
and we would be more than happy to buy part or whole 8 x 10 Asic chips.

Did you see the STATE it arrived in though? You should definitely be offered a replacement, shipping you a used product that is 1/3 DOA. Think about it of course you're eligible for a repair!

It may be damage to the ribbon cable.

Go to cgminer api log tab and post this info copy paste here and we can tell what module may be down.

This is the log after 12 hours of operation at 300 speed setting.

I think it will be nice if Avalon have used some type of custom, original tape to pack the unit. This way if unit is opened in transit it will be clearly visible to customer. And avoid false accusations to Avalon and maybe even help them to track down vandal.

Do the people who haven't received their orders have their details and the details of their orders show on the asic store page?

I'm a batch 2 customer and have no record of my order on their site.

Sounds like you pissed Yifu off man.   I have gotten a little impatient lately, but it seems my only course is to stay patient and be grateful I am getting a device or 2 or 3.

I received my Batch 2 Unit finally. I have it up and mining but there is a something strange that is confusing me.

The Unit has three mining modules. I configured three workers on ozcoin and set up the three modules to use the three different workers.

Only the first module appears to be working. However it appears to be mining at 80 GHash. Is this normal?
