Now I have to get one, everyone else is and I don't want to be left out!

Neil

The only issue I see with the PI is that the usb ports can only provide for ~150ma, I wonder if that is too low to power the screen and if it will need to be hooked up to a powered hub.

Yes, almost certainly.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

I gave up using the 2 USB ports directly a while ago.
I have a cheap USB2, a powered USB2 and a powered USB3 hub that I plug into one of the USB ports when I plug anything into the RPi.
One of the things this avoids is: when I plug the Icarus pl2303 directly into the RPi it crashes hard (no logs, no nothing, it just stops), however into a hub (or plug in a hub with the ICA already plugged into the hub) and no problems.

Me three!  Display support in cgminer would be oh so sweet!
"LCD Smartie" looks like a fun toy to have in general anyway.

hmmm … starting to feel bad for that poor unused HDMI port, looks kinda lonely  Embarrassed

I'm waiting for my Pi, but I was looking at getting this screen for around $30 :

http://coldtearselectronics.wikispaces.com/USB+LCD+-+LCD+System+info

Then writing a python script that pulls the hash rate, accepts, rejects, etc from the cgminer api, then write it to the screen, kind of like this setup :

http://www.gregledet.net/?p=668

Now I have to get one, everyone else is and I don't want to be left out!

Neil
Eheheh... You have to buy one and include the feature of enabling/using that LCD with MinePeon...  Grin

Well ... if you run X and start cgminer in a terminal window it already uses it
However, having a display (in my case) 110 times the size of the RPi and using probably 100 times the power seems rather pointless Tongue

Well if I don't add it directly into cgminer itself, then yep he'll have to add his (or my) script.
If I find the time to code to detect it and display on it, you'll just need to be running cgminer Smiley
(again as I said, I'll see when it arrives)

indeed, even the 7" displays feel a bit overkill.

btw - what powered USB3 hub are using with Pi?

A no name brand one made in china: ID 05e3:0610 Genesys Logic, Inc. 4-port hub
I can get it to mine fine on the RPi with the Jalapeno and the Blackarrow Lancelot.
Fails to mine (but detects the devices OK) with an Icarus and an Asicminer USB.
Still got a few more ideas to try yet.
It works fine on my desktop with all mining devices I have, so I'm not sure which one of a list of possible causes it is yet.

My powered USB2 says it is Belkin, but it is clearly related to the no name one:
ID 05e3:0608 Genesys Logic, Inc. USB-2.0 4-Port HUB

Interesting - do the Jalapeno & Lancelot show up as USB2 devices?
running lsusb shows the erupters as 1.1 compliant and it appears 1.1 devices no worky through USB3 hubs on Pi:
http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=27676

apologies if this is getting OT …

Sounds possible.
They are the USB1.1 devices that don't work. However, I've had them fail the same in the USB2.0 hub.
Anyway, I'll add that to the list of possible causes I'm investigating.
Thanks.

1. Did you try powering the rpi thru this hub itself?
2. Which devices did you mine thru it? Can it handle powering 15 eruptors plus rpi?

Thanks in advance.

I'm testing Minepeon for a few days. Now I looked after it (into my pool income) and was shocked: Since about 12 hours, it's mining for some donation minepeon pools only!! My 2 Pools are okay (but I can't see them on minepeon status page, only minepeon pools), and I've set some donation minutes before. But not HOURS or maybe days if I wouldn't have seen that!). Sorry but that's not acceptable, not fair and it's not something I could trust in. It's just bad manners.

It was okay again after I clicked on "Pools" and then on Submit Button (I didn't change anything, just submitted again). But it worked before, too. So the pools were set up properly before. I really hope that this is just a kind of bug by accident, not on purpose!

Woah!  I agree that is totally unacceptable, send me your hashrate and an address and I will twice what you have lost.
