wlan0 is for a wifi dongle, so has nothing to do with the BEs. 

If you've got the USB Block Erupters, then just add -S all to the command line, before the -c <config> part.  Assuming you're running bfgminer 3.8.0, of course.

I think with current build being specifically ARM based to run on Pi, a VM image would be something that would have to be built for x86/x64. I have not seen such a creature around these parts. Also, most ASICs seem to be quite touchy with respect to USB hubs, power specs and the like. I would have reservations about connecting all that via USB emulation.

Any reason not to just run it from a Pi as designed?

Was just a question, I already installed it (on RPI not VM) and it works great.

I like MinePeon, I really do, but I've given up on it. 

The Pi just isn't fast enough.  It can't proxy and run USB miners at the same time.  Even with the DLink 7-port which is considered to be THE USB hub for the Pi.  First my Block Erupter dies, then eventually the Jalapenos give up.  Of course, the NIC on the Pi is USB, so that craps out eventually too.  It's not a power issue, everything is running off a 750W ATX PSU.

Everything runs perfectly when attached to my TPLink router running OpenWRT with bfgminer 3.8.1 on it - the only difference I see is the TPLink's USB isn't broken, and it has a proper ethernet interface.

I'm still keen to test the BBB version of MinePeon, too.

I am running Minepeon without issue for a month now with Butterfly Little SC.

I have also TPLink router with DDWRT firmware where I installed BFGMiner. But did not test it yet to run the mining there.
I like that the Minepeon gives remote monitoring of mining advantage option.

Not sure if it would be possible the same way easily with DDWRT and BFGMiner.

Type this into minepeon to upgrade both:

cd /opt/minepeon
git pull


I'm not sure what you mean by the second part.

While that upgrades the underlying software, I don't think it upgrades the web frontend. While I don't think the web frontend has changed as much, keeping everything up to date might be helpful. Does anyone know what directory a git pull request from will update the frontend?

I'm about 80GH though - 2x Jalapenos, 2x AsicMiner Blades, 1x AsicMiner Cube, and a few Block Erupters. 

As for remote monitoring, I just SSH to the OpenWRT machine, same as I do with MinePeon - I rarely used the web interface anyway.

After my pi hung and I lost ~12 hours of mining I setup the onboard hardware watchdog. Tutorials here (and another one here), for more explanation there's also this blog post.

For a quick run down of commands you can:

• ssh into the pi
• Add the watchdog module to the automatically loaded modules each time the pi boots up (this is the piece that reboots the pi via hardware)
  $ echo "bcm2708_wdog" | sudo tee /etc/modules-load.d/bcm2708_wdog.conf
  Module parameters are "timeout=n" (max just above 15) and "nowayout=(0|1)" I used "bcm2708_wdog timeout=16 nowayout=1"
• For a fully featured watchdog dameon (alternatives available in the tuts)
  $ sudo pacman -S watchdog
• Start the watchdog dameon at boot (this is the piece that resets the hardware watchdog to stop it from rebooting)
  $ sudo systemctl enable watchdog
• Configure the watchdog options (there's a fair number, manpage for full details)
  $ sudo nano /etc/watchdog.conf
• If you want to start the services now (instead of next boot)
  $ sudo modprobe bcm2708_wdog; sudo systemctl start watchdog.service

Those D-Link hubs may be your problem.  When I started it bought several D-Limks, was never happy with them.  Sold them and replaced them with Rosewill 500's, no more usb trouble.  I understand you can't get Rosewill in the UK, maybe ship from USA.

I have 8 Rosewill hubs, a BE 49 port hub and a few V2 Blades, all run happy on Pi.

Possibly.  I don't think it's worth shipping a USB hub from the US just to host 5GH of USB miners. 

To be fair, I think I'm going to abandon the USB miners, they're more trouble than they're worth.

Hi All,

For some time I have been working on building a lightweight Linux for the Raspberry PI in my spare time with the intention of making it freely available for all to use.  I am very experienced with Linux and have been running my own Arch Linux GPU miners for quite some time now so I have cleaned it up (a lot) ported it over to ARM for the Raspberry PI.

Anyway, it seems that ASICs might be available soon and I would like to have it ready for that but it is missing one exceedingly important ingredient, testing.  I have done as much testing as I possibly can but my resources are somewhat limited, while I have a tone of GPUs I don't own any FPGAs that I can test with (and I certainly aren't going to buy one now) so I thought I would come to the community and ask for a bit of help.

So, if you have a Raspberry PI and a FPGA (or even just a PI if you just want to CPU mine for testing purposes) and want to help it would be appreciated, it is still in what I would call early alpha but it should be usable.  I have had one CPU mining for over 300 hours now without interruption.

As for crypto switcher you might want to check out MobileMinerApp instead, I believe it can do most of what you want (chain switching etc) and there is already a plugin for MinePeon.

I don't use it myself (chain hopping is a bit of a dirty trick and does real damage to alt coins) but if you check out the thread on the MinePeon Forums linked above there are quite a few people that use it successfully.

I use mobilminer app on my iPhone with mine peon. It allows monitor the state and allows start, stop, and restart mining remotely.
But does not allow any switching of the mined coin pool.
