Are you talking about The Blacklist starring James Spader? I have seen the whole series till now, I don't seen to recall a bitcoin in s1e11. Well post the clip I would be interested in watching it.

I have not seen the series but yes in some cases bitcoin is used for money laundering.Simple implication would be selling of Gift Cards around the forum.You see? If you're familiar with escrow.ms case,they enormously used bitcoins to launder money from India to Dubai using bitcoins.My point being,the serial episode is not a big deal ,it happens in the real world on regular basis.

I'm sure it's been a small part of the plot in at least 2 episodes, but then I'm all up to date and on the latest season.  There's one where Aram moves money for Red and mixes/launders it and another episode with a crowdfunded assassination storyline.  Probably not the healthiest use case examples for mainstream exposure.  I'm still waiting for the storyline about how it saves loads of people from a financial meltdown caused by the bankster cabal (far more dangerous than the cabal in that series).  Maybe I shouldn't hold my breath.

and yes I noticed that , he asked "ARAM" (or whatever his name is) to explain what he has done to know if he is the spy or not . I guess Blacklist & the "Good wife" are the only series that mentioned Bitcoin .

I think there's quite a few, it's just that there isn't enough time to watch all of them.  The series 'Blindspot' used Bitcoin in a plot with a tracking app that follows government vehicles and gives out their location.  Oddly enough, it aired on the same week as one of the Blacklist episodes I mentioned.

it is not a good thing for bitcoin to be mentioned in a series with this bad reputation. I know that mentioning it only without consider was it good or bad will make the audience who dont know about btc more curious to know more about it. but why did they mention it in a money laundring context ?

the list i linked is not up to date. but it atleast helps to prove that its not just blakclist and the goodwife that mentioned bitcoin

movies such as: Dope    also mentioned bitcoin. im sure that bitcoin is mentioned in alot more movies and tv shows. but trying to find a definitive list thats upto date is hard

Is any of these shows presents bitcoin in positive light?
So far I've only seen that they are usually making jokes about bitcoin, or create the illusion that it is mainly used as tool for laundering money or good way to pay ransom.
Not to mention totally ironic way bitcoin was mentioned Family Guy and we had rather neutral bitcoin sign in Deadpool. That is all I can think of.

This is not the first time Bitcoin was mentioned in a TV Series. There was a Billboard in last years season of The Simpsons, with a Bitcoin slogan and they made a movie called Dope, were they also mentioned it several times. Bitcoin is always used in these series as the Dark web of evil and it is getting old now. Someone should write something to these studios and introduce the good side of Bitcoin to them. Make some movie about the little farmer boy who made millions selling produce online, using Bitcoin. One of those, Feel good movies. ^smile^

I know there are loads of positive documentaries out there on Bitcoin and on Netflix.

as for shows like NCIS:LA, CSI:cyber, blacklist, they are shows about crimes, murder and other stuff. so ofcourse the context of mentioning bitcoin is going to be about the bad stuff..

take a different topic.. .. morphine... a cop show like Chicago PD talks about illegal drug dealers.. but a hospital show Chicago ER talk about how morphine helps people.. same directors, same writers, but different type of show.

so if you are a fan of crime thrillers, expect your favourite shows to mention bitcoin negatively. but if you are a comedy/drama fan. then expect something less negative

Check out Being Human. Bitcoin wasn't a plot point it was a part of everyday life in future. Cool show.

Yes i saw that show and I thought it was very cool, they all had hardware bitcoin wallets and could transfer them quickly to eachother.
But that show was in the future and everyone was already using bitcoin, it is a shame that show didnt get a season 2.

But i only saw the first episode of blacklist, I tought it was ok but not that catchy but I would like to see the Bitcoin clip if u have that for me.
