Isn't it important for crypto currency to succeed that Bitcoin is the one? From a store of value point of view lets say something else takes over, well then crypto will have a harder time of more people putting money into it if their money can be devalued.

Bitcoin is the first one to be a crypto currency,if it werent for bitcoin there wont be any alt coin showing up. Bitcoin is the one and only currency that has a real value other than those alt thats showing up lately. |

I think Litecoin, Dogecoin, Dash and maybe some others have a real value too. I also think Bitcoin is the best but we shouldn't underestimate other useful currencies. |

Is there a demand for altcoins such as the ones that you mentioned? Yes, there is. So they do have value. It's mainly the fact that they allow people to make great profits in a short term. That's what makes the altcoin market hot for gamblers and other greedy people. Beside that, nothing can come even close to what Bitcoin is at the moment, and it will stay like this for plenty of more years. |

Yeah it is like the father of all those coins. I dont know who's the mother of those other coins but I guess they are all adopted. I think there should only be one. So that people who want to start it will not get confused to other ones. And what is more. To make it stronger. |

Yeah it is like the father of all those coins. I dont know who's the mother of those other coins but I guess they are all adopted. I think there should only be one. So that people who want to start it will not get confused to other ones. And what is more. To make it stronger. Its fine that there are other ones but it doesn't say much for the design of this new category of money - crypto currency, if it cant hold value. It will mean crypto is just a payment service network only. |

yeas it is because all the other alt, are doing nothing but diluiting the market value of bitcoin, and they are useless for any kinda of real usage
they are only good to feed your bitcoin wallet, otherwise why you think everyone is buying those? no market accept them, so they dump for btc, like they dump btc for fiat, but at least btc is accepted by some merchants

People seem to buy them because they actually think they are different enough to succeed i guess. From my understanding bitcoin can adapt and build any type of features on top of it that an alt coin might have. It seems the alt coin markets are full of salesmen often presenting the alt with a flashy website etc. |

If another alt overtakes BTC in market cap, then it will be the store of value. And that will be fine. The important thing is that users can move their money without having to deal with banks.

It doesnt have to be "the one". But it has to be the 1st to be noticed to even spread any other alt coin value or side chain innnovation. No point on other alt coins if the birth of all alt coins is not retaining any value. People dont know bitcoin as it is, they dont need another coin to be worried about. |

Yes, sort of.I would say, it already is the one, like for instance we have BTCitcoin on one side, against all other alt coins on the other side (one against all others put together). There will be always a risk when it comes into using any alt coin so people will always have hard time of putting more, no matter what.

I can tell you this.... IF Bitcoin {The most known Crypto Currency} fails .... a lot of people will lose interest in all other Crypto Currencies. Would you invest in smaller unknown entities, if the strongest one fails for some reason? I guess the answer to this would be, NO. Almost everyone heard of Bitcoin before, and when I tell them that there are 900+ other Alt coins out there, they are truly amazed by this. A lot of the previous Pump n Dump coins has also given Alt coins a bad reputation and people would much rather invest in the biggest and more well known currency by default.  |

Bitcoin is Nr.1 and will stay, as you know - first come, first served rule. May be with time another crypto can also be popular worldwide, but not now. Look at large Chinese BTC mining farms - it speaks by itself. |

i know what you mean,do you mean it is important for Etherum tobe like bitcoin?as we see,etherum is the second place of crypto currency from price value,yes i think its important,etherum developer create etherum for currency like bitcoin,but they have long way to going to be like bitcoin,so far the price is really nice,0.03 is really not bad. |
