More likely they're getting later into the development process, and they're getting more realistic numbers. Remember, BFL did NOT want a repeat of last time, with the Single. Rather than lowering specs, they'd prolly rather start conservative, and then raise estimated specs. Lo and behold, here we are. |

Probably responding to bASIC offering 54GH/s for $1099.
Still, it's a little puzzling. Did they have 50% more performance in the bag that they weren't using, or will they increase the number of chips per device? The new 4.5GH/s Jalapeno spec is still less than the old 5GH/s per chip Single spec, so an increase in the number of chips would be a possibility, but it would really destroy their timeline.
I suppose it could be coincidental and they just got the chips back and were able to clock them faster than expected, but the timing is a little convenient for that.

Competition arrived, now they are less conservative. Way to meet the competition head on and not leave those who have pre-ordered rethinking their investment. BitForce Single SC - 60 GH/s @ 60w
BitForce MiniRig SC - 1,500 GH/s @ 1,500w
Power figures are +/- 10% of those listed while we finish optimizing our power subsystem.
NEW An as yet named 'Little Single' device which will hash at a rate of 30 GH/s and cost USD $649.00.

Our intention was to eventually over deliver while also being conservative during development. Uh, well yeah, It's pretty well know they are behind schedule a little. They were supposed to ship in September, but they pushed that back to October / November.. so yeah. But, If they ship in Oct. Nov. I really don't mind since I am getting more hash power in my Single |

They were supposed to ship in September, but they pushed that back to October / November.. so yeah.
I've never heard them say September. All I've ever heard was October, then October/November, and now beginning of November. |
