I can't get this card to effectively mine. Replaced a 5830, which mined happily 24/7, with a 7970, and now there are constantly artifacts/glitches in the display and eventual crash after a couple hours of mining in cgminer.

I've tried mining at stock speeds, underclocked, overclocked, even setting the temperature ceiling very low.

Catalyst 13.1 with its version of APP SDK.

Is this a known issue? Any help is appreciated.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

It's the new driver. I'm seeing this too with 13.1

The previous driver 12.10 was fine. I'll be rolling back to the older driver soon as it is rather annoying!

Thanks, that fixed it! Not sure if this is widely known, but I'll change the subject in case it isn't.

The drivers have been wacky lately, 13.1 breaks BTC mining while 12.10 breaks LTC mining.  12.11b seems to be the best.

Weird. I got a Gigabyte 7970GHz that I just brought fired back up again. It's mining just fine with 13.1 drivers and included 1084.4 OCL runtime.

I was about to upgrade my drivers because of the BF3 performance increse until i thought "hey, the last drivers were buggy, i should ask first"
And im glad i did, Apparently i dodged a headache.

So 12.11b is Just Fine for Gaming+btc mining at the same time?
and 12.10 is damaged goods along with 13.1 right?

As far as I can tell, yeah, I don't know how AMD keeps messing things up so much

12.10 was a nightmare too, backtracking to any previous driver didn't fix the litecoin mining issues, upgrading to a newer driver was the only way to fix it.

Sure, I preferred 12.8 over 12.10 for mining, but they both worked for me. Now I'm on 13.1 on Win8, and I'm mining and overclocking/undervolting with no issues. Why does it work fine for me, and not for anyone else?
