Hello, I`m a fan on bitcoin research, and i always have an endless curiosity. I propose a research to reveal the bitcoin demographics.

Here is what my research will uncover:

-The number of bitcoin users
-The bitcoin distribution / user (how many bitcoins does the average user, the newbie, and the veteral bitcoin user have)
-The demographics (from which country are the most bitcoin users)
-The age distribution (what age class uses the bitcoin the most)
-How did people learned about bitcoin (browsing the net? from friends? or in other words what is the best medium to advertise bitcoin)
-What do people expect from bitcoin in the future (to the moon or commons tragedy)
-Would they replace their fiat with bitcoin (how attached are people to their fiat money)
-And much more

■ The research will only focus on existing members, so non-bitcoin users won't be asked. The research will be in a form of a survey but it will not target forum users, i want to discover the other part of the bitcoin audience, not just the people that use this forum.
■ The research will be in a form of a survey, that will be advertised on all bitcoin related sites starting from faucets to mining, to gambling and so on, to reach out to as many people as possible.
■ The research will cost about 2-3 bitcoin, if we want to target a statistically significant portion, with 3 bitcoin i think we will have enough funds to advertise it to 1 - 1.5 million people.
■ This research will be very transparent, every deposit into the advertising accounts will be listed here, every satoshi will be accounted, so you don't have to worry about me cheating. Also the funds will be held in an escrow account, until i will need them to advertise the survey.
■ I will only need 2% commission from the funds as a service fee to me, and the escrow person can also get 2% commission for his services. Thus we get 4% commission in total, and 96% will go to fund the research

So first and foremost, is any escrow person here that would like to participate in this project? If yes then create a bitcoin address where the funds will be sent. You get 2% commission of this project funds so please volunteer! Smiley

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

First we need an escrow person, so that i can prove that this research is transparent, only after that we will start collecting donations Wink

If you know any escrow guy, then tell them to PM me.

Thats another project, it has nothing to do with this one. That project is about helping newbies to earn bitcoin.

This project is about researching the bitcoin users demographics and other info.

This is really a good project but some of your objectives like the demographics (from which country are the most bitcoin users) might remove the anonymity in bitcoin network.

No personal data will be disclosed obviously. Only aggregate data to just estimate which country has the most bitcoin users.

We still need an escrow person to collect the funds, so please apply Smiley

OK, I was thinking about the safety of our personal data because FBI and such authorities might have access to such data if collected online.

Well no private data will be collected at all , only a survey with asking the question : What country are you from?

Any other data is trivial and no person can be identified with it. And even that question of where are you from will be aggregated, so only the end results will be seen.

For example: 60% of the responders fro m UK, 30% from USA, 5% from Canada, etc.

So no other info is collected or needed at all, so dont worry.

It would be pretty interesting but why not just advertise it on this forum as a survey, Afterall this forum has the largest amount of bitcoin users from all around the world, this way it's easier and it's free, if the survey has only a bunch of questions im sure people would complete it for free.

Yes but i said in first post that i`m not interested in the forum users. I`m more interested in those who dont have forum account, but use bitcoin.

I`m sure most of bitcoin users are that way, they use it to gamble, or poker, or shop online, but they rarely check this forum, or they dont even know about it.

Most of those would be interesting to study, and i know which sites to advertise on them.

But most bitcoin users do use this forum and definitely users who gamble use this forum since all the big casinos are being advertised here so im not really sure why are you not interested in the people of this forum.

I`m not so sure about that. Coindesk estimates a 5 million userbase for bitcoin, while this forum hardly has in total 500.000 users, of which maybe 20000 are active in a period of a month.

I`m sure most of bitcoin users have stumbled across this forum, but to say that they use this forum actively, its a bit too good to be true.

I estimate that around 95% of bitcoin users dont use this forum actively, so that leaves us with a huge uncovered population of unknown bitcoin entities, that needs to be discovered Smiley
