Bitcoins are already heading towards the direction of Mainstream.
We dont need banks to make it Main stream. Whats the difference if banks deal BTC same as Fiat Curreny.
Bitcoins is digital and not controlled by anyone and thats the way it should remain.

Isn't it already in the "real economy" ? The current rate is $400 +,completely an influence by the market trends. That is what we call economy I reckon. Moreover ,its not just an entity in the market but one of the most valuable digital asset.

we it's pretty generic, the community oof bitcoin is very small it can not do anything about the potential of bitcoin, you need new money influx by new average joe people

if we remain confined in the usual 3M user base there is no growth, only random p&d

For bitcoin to go mainstream it should get more attention, media is one way social media is best source for advertising. Making youtube videos comparing virtual money with real money. This will definitely help this community go mainstream. Let people know what bitcoin is and how useful it is!

bitcoin will go mainstream eventually no matter what. all of these are just ways to speed up the process.

anyways i think the only way is through regulation. the government should officially accept bitcoin as a legit currency and businesses are already paying their taxes they use bitcoin and pay taxes through legitimate channels.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

.com domain names are also valuable digital assets. Alt names have not caused a drop in .com's values, if anything they have increased usage, and consequently their value. Banks use them, and some provide funding for their trading, so they are prepared to recognise digital assets. Why can't the same happen with Bitcoin?

Bitcoin with the support if the government will go a long way.
Government support will only happen if they find a way to tax it. In The Netherlands Bitcoin is already mentioned when you file your taxes. They can't check it, but you're required to report your savings (and pay 1.2% per year above a certain threshold).

Governments will definitely incorporate some sort of digital currency with possibly the block chain technology behind it, but won't be Bitcoin. Bitcoin offers the people too much freedom. That's something they don't like.

This isn't very much with the nature of bitcoin, finding people "anti-privacy" and "force" them to use it, I think we should just encourage people to use it more physically with less fees on the user when buying at stores etc... IMO.

Definitely disagree unless you are talking about tracking down criminals only.

Bitcoins are already heading towards the direction of Mainstream.
It is far away from being mainstream. I have no idea why some people tend to think that it is already mainstream.

bitcoin will go mainstream eventually no matter what. all of these are just ways to speed up the process.
You can't possibly know that; please refrain from making such ridiculous statements.

Governments will definitely incorporate some sort of digital currency with possibly the block chain technology behind it, but won't be Bitcoin. Bitcoin offers the people too much freedom. That's something they don't like.
The problem is actually not the government but the people themselves. They either 1) Don't realize what is going on; 2) Don't bother doing anything about it. I'm still not sure which case is worse.

Holding bitcoin is part of the process of using bitcoin IMO, everyone should be given the opportunity to use it when/if they want to use and not forced to.

Well if you want Bitcoin to be mainstream it needs to be controlled by government Sad
Truth hurts sometimes, but if you want bitcoin to be used widely then it will attract their attentions and Bam, Bitcoin is taxable and will be watched constantly 24/7

The government will surely adapt the bitcoin technology and create their own monitized money.
Ive heard the banks are planning this blockchain tech also.

nope.. totally wrong.

the people moving it around are people pushing it into the real economy..
its the people hoarding it for 3 years that you need to politely tempt them to start using it

Blockchained files have been around for years, and they are already incorporated into many financial structures. I remember that we used a form of blockchain for transaction histories in a share dealing system, and that was back in the 1970s. Bitcoin has made blockchains sexy, and the banks are rushing to publicise the concept to try to distance themselves from previous misdemeanours.  Governments will never allow distributed control of financial systems. Handing control and verification to thousands of nodes that anyone can run is the real revolution in Bitcoin.

Relax guys. yes we all know that Bitcoin would be corrupted one day by so called majority

Its simple they just agree a worldwide ban and follow the minerz. Then with the seized devices they 51% the network to cause disruptions or worse.

But why worry? Why be sad about the inherent outcome.

But that day is not today. let's celebrate that the original satoshi Bitcoin is still with us.
