I'm wondering what the rate Avalon uses for BTC.  I think I read, at some point, that it is the highest bid offer of MT.Gox, but I am not sure.

I'm going to be just on the cusp of either having enough btc or not.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Remember the transactions fees too.

It's WalletBit that sets the conversion rate. Wait, I'm not sure of this.
For what it's worth, here's how Walletbit does the instant exchange:
Quote
Exchange of your bitcoins to US dollars on Mt.Gox will be carried out by WalletBit to clear out your accumulated balance. WalletBit will deduct our processing fee from each merchant payout. Our fee for this is 0.89% + a flat fee of 0.05 BTC to pay miners.
source
That should help you calculate it, but maybe Avalon eats the fee.

Maybe you can take a loan for a few hours?

that's a pretty high miner fee.  .0005 BTC is plenty.
