Basically, I'm seeking abstract suggestions.

abstract?
...thought of apart from concrete realities, specific objects, or actual instances.

Can Bitcoins beam me into the future, yet? I would like to visit some of the places seen in various Star Trek shows.

Perhaps atypical would have been a better word choice.

Regardless, here's a list of things I'm planning on offering via Bitcoin within a year (inspired by some suggestions), along with overseeing Bitcoin 100:

  • Property
  • Furniture
  • Automobiles (along with most other motor vehicles)
  • Planes
  • Boxcars & Cabooses (not sure about the engines, definitely not the track, but a RR truss bridge, sans the track, is not out of the question)
  • Airline Tickets
  • Cruises
  • A once in a lifetime trip around the world.
  • Concert Tickets
  • Dinner with a politician or some other notable.
  • Fine Dinning
  • Vacations at a high-end resort.
  • Hotel Stays
  • Indie Art
  • Insurance (health/death life)
  • Cemetery Plots
  • Antiquities/Antiques
  • One-of-a-kind items.
  • Hardware/Software
  • Animals
  • Entire Estates (due to somebody passing)

some. well most of those listed items seem as if they are luxury/expensive items. and not day to day uses. although great if you have the FIAT to back the service offerings (suppliers and staff need to be paid to eat and live) a few of us are thinking of the 'essentials' such as food, utility bills, rents etc. which would then spur on the main streaming of bitcoin where the userbase no longer needs to handle FIAT for their livelihood.

and those that are working (mostly self employed) and not restricted to the FIAT only minimum wage laws have the freedoms of working and living purely on bitcoin. (well thats the ideal dream/goal)

but the occasional luxury item is also a great thing to offer, just hope the suppliers in the background will still be getting their contracted FIAT to make the luxury services sustainable.

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.

Food and beer, over the counter and delivered at home. This will set the Bitcoin economy free by allowing consumers to use their BTC without going through exchanges that can always be killed by regulators.

BTW this seems a killer business idea in a large city like New York or London, is there anyone doing that already?

Anything and everything on amazon.com would be nice  Cheesy

I had the same idea. You could start a company offering the items that AREN'T offered commonly throughout Bitcoinland. The business could start small and grow and grow as bitcoin grows. The only downfall is all Amazon would have to do is implement bitcoin payments in 24 hours and shut you down  Sad. Unless you offered some kind of anonymity, that is the only advantage for long-term success with a company like this over Amazon.

WTF do you have in mind?  Cry

Real estate. I want 40 or more acres of wilderness...
How about a resort on the Pike Chain, south of Iron River, Wisconsin? ...
That would be cool, but it's just more than I have. As far as buying a small island; well, I worry that in 20 years it will be in the surf.

I'd be more than pleased to be shut down by Amazon accepting bitcoin.

I don't believe Amazon will implement what I have in store. FYI: I was informed to replace "Date with a legal prostitute." with "Brothel Vouchers". Looking over the details, and hope to have ten available sometime after beta.

The updated list:

  • Property
  • Furniture
  • Automobiles (along with most other motor vehicles)
  • Planes
  • Boxcars & Cabooses (not sure about the engines, definitely not the track, but a RR truss bridge, sans the track, is not out of the question)

  • Insurance (health/death life)
  • Cemetery Plots
  • Antiquities/Antiques
  • One-of-a-kind items.
  • Hardware/Software
  • Animals
  • Entire Estates (due to somebody passing)
  • Brothel Vouchers

If you could somehow implement straight bitcoin payments with Amazon, I will have your children.   Which in itself would be an accomplishment worth scientific study since I'm a man. Smiley

Trying to accomplish said tasks is outside my expertise on both counts, albeit Amazon Vouchers may be possible.
