Creating a Bitcoin client that fully implements the network protocol is extremely difficult. Bitcoin-Qt is the only known safe implementation of a full node. Some other projects attempt to compete, but it is not recommended to use such software for anything serious. (Lightweight clients like Electrum and MultiBit are OK.)

Could you translate that to nub language? Can't I just open the application and it starts to mine? (from CPU by default, but tweaking it to use GPU?)

I tried using a 5850 on Server 2008.  Couldn't get it to work.  I don't know if I just didn't find the right drivers or what, but I couldn't get my miner to detect the presence of the GPU.  I've gotten it working just fine on the other 6 machines I mine on (with XP, Vista, or W7 installs) though...

Huh. Perhaps that was just dumb luck. Sad I would think it wouldn't matter if it was Win7 64 or 2008R2. Especially now with RemoteFX.
