Personally I like to use the 50 day sma with the shorter 15 sma crossover strategy. I don't really like ema for crossover Stradegies because I think it will get more whipsaw and a sma will be more decisive about market movements. Although I like to use MACD.  I wonder what are some recommendations for moving average lengths for the crypto markets it seems like we have shorter history especially with some of the alt coins so I have been avoiding something like a 200 sma.

All depends on how long is your expected holding period and how much risk you are prepared to take.

The longer the MA, the larger unrealised loss you may have to stomach.
