ASIC in the wild

hashing on BTCGuild

This is not some pseudoeconomic post-modern Libertarian cult, it's an un-led, crowd-sourced mega startup organized around mutual self-interest where problems, whether of the theoretical or purely practical variety, are treated as temporary and, ultimately, solvable.
Censorship of e-gold was easy. Censorship of Bitcoin will be… entertaining.

It's an estimate as you graph says since there is no way to know the actual hashrate. It's probably just variance.

You're seeing the mixture of > 4 TH/s added to the network + variance.  It can create VERY large spikes in 24-hour estimates.  I say > 4 TH/s because ASICMINER has added > 3 now, and there have been a large number of miners coming back online in response to the recent rallies.
