Time to write a letter to the CCC(Chaos Computer Club). We will also need German translators once the donations and the letter has been finalized. This is the letter adapted from the EFF letter. Feel free to critique and make improvement. Dear Chaos Computer Club, The Bitcoin community appreciates your efforts to protect electronic liberty and help the internet remain free of censorship and unnecessary intervention. Bitcoin < http://bitcoin.org > is a new open-source P2P cryptocurrency system, published under the MIT license. There are several enterprises and individuals in the Bitcoin community and growing. We have donated about 600 BTC to date to the EFF, now we wish to donate X amount to you. We are certain that you will receive many more in individual donations if you will set up your own bitcoin address and tell people that they can donate to you via bitcoins. Warmest regards, The Bitcoin community.

Here a draft German translation (while I am still wondering why we translate, because the CCC is fully capable to read and write English!!!) ------------------------ One question: Shouldn't we encourage them also to provide us with comments / feedback if they have some (and if so, where do we direct them to?)

Just a small fragment, might be used on the wiki or website, too.

I remember Wikileaks' headache earlier this year when their Paypal donation account was commandeered and when someone leaked the donors' identities.
Perhaps we should emphasize that Bitcoin would encourage more donations by protecting the privacy of the donors and so on, using Wikileaks as an example.

"The powers of financial capitalism had another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent meetings and conferences. The apex of the systems was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world's central banks which were themselves private corporations. Each central bank...sought to dominate its government by its ability to control Treasury loans, to manipulate foreign exchanges, to influence the level of economic activity in the country, and to influence cooperative politicians by subsequent economic rewards in the business world."

We're targeting charities and businesses - asking them to accept Bitcoin donations / payments - at http://BitcoinPromote.comSomeone said, "One charity at a time." Why? No way. We can email 100 at a time. Each of us can email the entire LIST of organizations, until they finally concede and begin accepting Bitcoin (even if just to get us off their back! ) Please give me the names of a dozen more organizations you'd like to see accept Bitcoin...

I am perhaps more afraid of promoting bitcoin and looking like a spammer more than you are. But indeed, there's a purpose to my statement "One charity at a time". I want to raise a good amount of money for the charity that the bitcoin community donate to.

I think that's a good point. There's not much point signing up all the charities if no-one donates to them. It's more important to have successful bitcoin donees than to have lots of them. Because I should practice what I preach, I've just sent another 10 BTC to the EFF, and I will try to remember to keep donating regularly.

Because I should practice what I preach, I've just sent another 10 BTC to the EFF, and I will try to remember to keep donating regularly.
I have been doing the same thing! I think that this is an important point... It's so EASY to donate with Bitcoin... And we love to promote Bitcoin... These charities (if they are worthy) will get many more donations... on an ongoing basis... once they sign up for Bitcoin. Example: - I had never donated to EFF before.... although I had been meaning to for a long long time. Now I have donated about 4 times recently!
- I had never donated to Epic Change before.... although I had been meaning to for a long long time. Now I have donated about 3 times recently!
- I had never donated to Linux Mint before.... although I had been meaning to for a long long time. Now I have donated for the first time, just today!
I'm telling you... those of us in the Bitcoin community, who can afford to throw a few coins around, will be very generous with good causes. I'm not worried about that. We just need to get more organizations to sign up to RECEIVE our gifts. We ARE getting them to sign up..... one by one. Several have signed up, just because of me personally contacting them! Who else should I add to the http://bitcoinpromote.com list to target?

You could refund only the guys who ask for their money back and keep the rest for the next charity in line, like the FSF or something.
