Please enough of the three letter agency talk, it is off-topic. A separate thread would be more suited if you want to discuss those.

Oh wow, I didn't know about that. Interesting information...
You have to be around for a while to know.

OP if your questions have been answered please lock this thread.

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

My question has been answered. I would let the thread open for further discussion. If it is not desired then I will lock it (or you can do it, if you think it is the best option in order to prevent spam posts).

This thread isn't about three letter agencies and their jurisdictions (what they do and what they don't). This will cause unnecessary spam in addition to being off-topic.

The topic is Is Bitcointalk passing information to investigation authorities?

I can promise you the authorities referred to in the title of the OP are indeed various three letter agencies which certainly do relate to the OP and the jurisdiction is releavant.

Why the anxiousness to close off the topic?

Not sure I would go that far.

Doesn't have much choice if served with a subpoena.

Unless he wants to sit in jail and I don't think he likes anyone here that much!

I'm surprised this thread has went this long.  The fact that the site remains up shows it is willing to work with authorities.  If they did not on a site this size it most likely would be taken down.

And as mentioned with BFL with sharing info I think some of working with authorities is good.  It can help some members in certain cases.

Theymos himself has openly posted in this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1027518.0

That he has released information in possession of Bitcointalk to the authorities.

Theymos is located in the USA.

Not complying with a USA subpoena isn't exactly conducive to a life of freedom.

Added: I do believe that Ross Ulbricht and GAW also had info released from Bitcointalk to the American FBI

The topic is Is Bitcointalk passing information to investigation authorities?
I can promise you the authorities referred to in the title of the OP are indeed various three letter agencies which certainly do relate to the OP and the jurisdiction is releavant.
That is still no reason to discuss the jurisdictions, i.e. the agencies themselves. I don't see why that even matters in this case, but fine. If you want to continue and let people post useless things, then go ahead. This will be my final reply here.

Why the anxiousness to close off the topic?
I'm not a fan of redundant posts.

Doesn't have much choice if served with a subpoena.
Unless he wants to sit in jail and I don't think he likes anyone here that much!
Doing so because of random people would not make much sense, would it now?

Update:
I do not want to continue posting as the questions by OP were answered. It has nothing to do with you disagreeing with me.

I'm not sure what you meant by that.

My statement was meant to be, that if Theymos is served with a subpoena, since he is in the USA, he really has no choice other than being jailed to release any info requested.

While I realize that in Meta you have no moderation powers and are simply a "user" you still wear the "Staff" label.

In doing such there is a certain level of behavior that should be maintained and getting pissy simply because you are disagreed with isn't in line with that.

I didn't say you were wrong, I simply disagreed with you, that's all.

No reason to simply stop posting.
