I would uninstall msi

I would uninstall my amd drivers.

boot.

I would install my amd drivers

boot

I would install msi

boot

Takes 20 minutes should work

I did like this - now it is working

Thank you!

good glad to help.
I just reconfigured a rig a day or two ago and did the same .  it is why I knew how to fix it.

it is the by the book method works most of the time.

...

But I kept a rig and it just sat on a shelf doing nothing. I decided to bring it back to life.

Cost = zero usd.

Some details and photos to follow.

The rig is a sapphire hd7970 with a huge heat sink the biggest and baddest around .  I can not get my hd7970 to overheat.

a h77 mobo asrock----- I can get a second card on this board
a crucial ssd 500 gb----------- over kill
a seasonic bronze psu
2 sticks for 4gb ram  8gb total 1833 speed
an intel 2500t cpu low power draw
a cheap cpu intel cooler

...

Omg dude thank you so much. I feel way better now that I see all these new coins with different methods. I really though GPU mining was dead thank you for proving me wrong I'm gonna go do all my research and give it a go too. Thanks man !

There is some money to be made with this.
I got as high as 14 cards was mining at 330mh

I sold off some gear that the last 60 days of mining paid for.

So I am down to 240mh. 10 card and five rigs.
I am almost fully roi'd between the coins and the sale of some of the gear. I have mined about 60 days.

I did have a ton of parts in the house which is how I got to roi so quick.

Phil, you still on Nano pool, saw you switched a while back and I know you are on top on the pools so just checking, running 660Mh now and been mostly on Nano pool but this weekend gave Etherite a try and been good so far, he's doing a zero fee promo and looks like good backend code and pretty nice front-end. Low latency to the pool also from NE.

Just seeing where its at these days....

I sold 4 r9 390's and 1 r9 380.

I am down to 4 r9 nanos and 1 r9 390.

I am mining at nano pool and ethpool.

eth pool paid me 9.47 eth for some magic uncle/block   vs 4.95 eth coins a block.

this has been fun.

I sold all the r 390's because I want room for the 400 series .

So anyone in the usa that wants a good price for a  r9 390   from his   send me a pm.

The Nanos are really killing the 390s in terms of power consumption, size, small=less heat and could push the same MHs.
With the rom mods by Heliox, you can get more rigs with the same total amps. No brainer this.
Cant wait to take the 480/490 for a test run.... but will wait for Philip do conduct the test  Grin

I am not very proficient in GPUs. Can they be returned to original ROM since GPUs will be sold at some point?

I think there is a copy ROM command from the atiflash utilities. Reckon you can copy rom from a virgin Nano, and flash the non-virgin ones. Someone please verify.

yes but i would not buy one at that price, for less than half the price you can have a 970 or maybe a 390 or soemthing else, that do 130w 20MH, which is good enough for me right now

and with the new gpu coming,  i would not add ancient card anymore

I paid about a THIRD of the price of a Nano for each of my R9 290s - and achieve similar-to-HIGHER hashrate than anything I've seen reported on a Nano, abet at quite a bit more power used.

Nano is a nice card, but IMO not worth buying one to mine on despite the efficiency, as they take too long to have a prayer at ROI.

If you have OTHER uses for them, then it's a different story.

There is a copy BIOS command built into GPU-Z - it's not hard to save the original BIOS to reflash a card with for later resale. *OR* download the "latest BIOS" from the manufacture website is usually an option as well. Worst case, the folks that wrote GPU-Z have a rather large database of BIOS from various models of various cards.

Given the diff increase on ETH though, might not be worth buying new gear at all if you only plan to mine with it - making ROI is getting harder and harder - even the RX 480 by the time it shows up might be impossible to ROI unless you have free or VERY VERY cheap electric with the diff increase rate.

My boys were telling me that a Nano or two in a mini ATX gaming rig is kinda popular nowadays.
With Nano's low power consumption and good cooling - I think no problems selling off these Nanos in the future.
Meanwhile, I configured 6xNano@763watts@2.7amps@133MHs using Heliox's -150mV rom mod - very stable.

I think I paid $180 for my "refurb through Newegg" 290s.
